10 Things to know before you Buy the Dangote refinery IPO on IC Wealth 1. You will need a minimum of 500 shares that will cost you Gh2,290 instead of the 10-share minimum that Dangote mentions and you will have to buy it in multiples 2. You will need to pay Gh50 for subscription in addition to the cost of the shares. It would have been free if you were to get it in Ghana. 3. You will be buying the shares in the name of Access Investor Service in Nigeria instead of buying the shares in your name, which is a beneficiary system and you will be a beneficiary. 4. You will be paying 0.2% of your money as safekeeping fees every year, pay 1.83% when you are to buy more shares, and pay 2.17% of your money when you are to sell. And $25 when you are to move your money back to Ghana after the period of investing. 5.When you make money both in dividends and capital Gains, you will be tax by both Ghana and Nigeria because the two countries have no tax treaty 6. Your dividend won’t be paid to you directly like when is paid in Nigeria but rather would be reinvested except you ask for it before the payment date. 7. You would need a certificate of Capital Importation to move money back to Ghana. Getting it will depend on the availability of forex. 8. You won’t have voting and having a legal issue against the company or the issuer will be difficult and expensive. 9. The exchange rate is the biggest risk for you as an investor; you may be making money in Nigeria but converting it back to Ghana may be nothing or even lose money while making it in Nigeria. 10. If there is an over-subscription your money will be return to you but during the process if the naira goes down, the money invested will be less than what they are giving back to you. Let me know your thoughts. Are you going to invest or will you focus on the Ghana Stock Exchange? Hamdaway
