Another reminder that Utah’s monsoon is far from over. This video was taken yesterday at North Creek in Beaver, where heavy rain over the Cottonwood Fire burn scar sent a dangerous debris flow rushing downstream. You can see the mud, rocks, trees, and other debris being carried by the flood. Burn scars are especially dangerous during monsoon season because the scorched ground can’t absorb water like it normally would. Even a brief downpour can trigger life-threatening flash flooding and debris flows. If you’re recreating near recent wildfire burn scars, stay weather aware and never underestimate these storms. They can turn deadly in a matter of minutes. 📹: Kyra Maycock

Team Dominator STORM CHASE MODE to be activated March 4-7 and beyond as an insane pattern for early season severe weather and #tornado threats is upon us! This video was sent to me from the Beaver River below the Cottonwood Fire burn scar. While the flooding itself isn’t too severe here, notice how black the water is. That’s ash, soot, sediment, and debris being washed off the burned landscape and into the river. It’s a good reminder that the impacts of a major wildfire don’t end when the flames are extinguished. Burn scars dramatically increase runoff because the scorched ground can’t absorb water as efficiently. Even a relatively brief thunderstorm can send muddy water, rocks, and debris racing downstream. With an active monsoon pattern expected over the next several days, the flood threat could increase not only around the Cottonwood Fire burn scar but across other recent wildfire burn scars in Utah as well. It doesn’t take a widespread rain event—just one slow-moving thunderstorm over the right location can trigger dangerous flash flooding. If you’re camping, hiking, or recreating near burn scars, keep a close eye on the forecast and be prepared to move to higher ground quickly if storms develop.

Motorhomes, RVs and vehicles remain surrounded by floodwater, even after the river has dropped several feet from its historic crest. The White River at Anderson reached a record 24.9 feet, surpassing the previous record from the catastrophic flood of 1913. As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, the river had fallen to 22.3 feet, but remains in MAJOR FLOOD STAGE. For perspective, major flood stage is 19 feet and flood stage is just 10 feet. That means what you see here isn’t over. The water may be slowly retreating, but there is still a very long way to go. The National Weather Service says the White River at Anderson isn’t expected to fall below flood stage until late Tuesday evening. This is the aftermath of a historic flood, one that rewrote a record that stood for more than a century. The Leona River is on the rise in Uvalde, and the water is still climbing. Mandatory evacuations have already been ordered in some areas as floodwaters continue to surge. Friday, November 7, 2025, at 8:00 AM PDT: There it is folks the storm is brewing off of central portion of the Pacific right now. Significant rainfall for Southern California starting as early as Wednesday night through Saturday, but this is a progressive storm pattern that’s going to continue to escalate due to the warming of the Pacific so this is just the start of what’s to come. We need to be prepared for potential mudslides in recent major burn areas such as Easton and Pacific Palisades burn scar zones. Next Thursday through next Sunday now the potential for the system to have more major impacts such as road flooding, high wind potential, and possibly even isolated power outages with some strong to severe thunderstorms that could be embedded with the system. The two moisture sources originate from the Marshall Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands are trending now. Before this big weather shift all comes about we are going to be seeing again 92 to 95° temperatures a light Santa Ana wind event and offshore flow majority of Santa Barbara to San Diego counties, this upcoming Saturday to Monday. We are going to get pretty toasty across our region and then the rains will come almost similar to November 1997 all over again. #CAwx

PDS #DOMINATOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT UPDATE We have an active pattern for severe weather ahead this end if May and June, with many more #tornado intercepts for science expected. @jakescustomdiesel and Will Clay are racing to replace the engine of the Dominator 3 in time for these severe weather and tornado episodes. Here is the new motor which may be installed as early as this weekend. Thank you to S&S Diesel Motorsport for their continued support. The Dominator 3 will be back in tornado intercept mode by Junesanity 2026. Never stop chasing

There’s lots of “rumors” of future tropical storms. It’s probably a bit confusing. So let’s try to cut through all the tropical “noise” out there. There are two main things we are watching for the next two weeks. 1. A tropical wave near Africa which is likely to form by mid to late week and near the Lesser Antilles next Friday-ish. That will “most likely” be deflected out to sea by west to east steering over Florida/ Bahamas. 2. Moisture will gather in the Central Caribbean in about 10 days. It will “attempt” to develop. It may or may not happen. At that time a large upper low should be over the Gulf. It should drag any system Northeast. BUT here’s the key… if it’s delayed -or- if a piece is left behind, then a track WNW towards the Gulf is possible in about two weeks. Bottom line: While I can’t tell you exactly how strong and exactly where systems may track, I can give you a general overview of what needs to be watched to elucidate the pattern. Stay tuned!!

The flood sirens have gone off in the Upper Valley this afternoon due to a combination of heavy rain and snow melt. I have spoken to the Environment Agency and Calderdale Council. Current predictions suggest it is likely to get worse until about 3:30 – 4:00pm and then ease. This is being monitored and I'll update as the day progresses. There is surface water flooding on Halifax Road at Eastwood where a crew are working to unblock drains, surface water flooding at Callis where the road is closed, and a flood warning in Walsden. Other areas including Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, and Todmorden are under flood alerts and teams are out clearing drains. Please avoid travelling to these areas. Residents should put up flood defences if possible. You can get flooding updates on or the Environment Agency website. Flood wardens also update on a number of local Facebook pages including Todmorden Flood Group and Hebden Bridge Flood Action Group. We are at the frontline of climate shocks here in Calder Valley. Rest assured I will continue to raise the issues we face with flooding at the highest levels of government.

As promised. This video is only about "Whether or not E20 damages the Engine1". In the end... my chats with some of the more than 30 mechanics I met. The most important point I missed in the video is... "There is a greater chance that the engine gets corroded or damaged due to moisture in the air, when the car is kept unused for long, than due to moisture in the Hygroscopic Ethanol" Other issues... Lower Mileage etc. in the next video.

River Sentry Flood Warning is a Liberty Hill business that created flash flood warning systems. They warned people in Ingram this morning: "At Approximately 0332 AM, six of our RS-1A siren towers were involved in a flash flood intervention after detecting high water at Howdy's and River Run Campground near Ingram, Texas. All units activated, triggering the immediate evacuation of the camp ground and surrounding residents who were awoken by the towers. Three towers were damaged and/or lost and this is OK. We always place our equipment between sleeping quarters and the river to ensure water must encounter our sensors before it reaches people. This strategy was proven sound early this AM. We may have to replace some gear but so be it. It accomplished its purpose." FOX 7 Austin
