Despite extra security at the @nationalgallery today a doctor and 2 nurses unfurled a banner in front of #VanGogh 's sunflowers to call for urgent action on the #ClimateEmergency. They were acting in solidarity with the young imprisoned @JustStopOil soup protestors Phoebe & Anna.

On Thursday, over a dozen nurses with the New York State Nurses Association were arrested for blocking the entrance to the front of the Manhattan headquarters of the Greater New York Hospital Association. The nurses' direct action was part of a "day of action" in their ongoing strike to demand fair wages and benefits and better working conditions. Around 15,000 nurses are currently on strike — the largest in New York City history. Thursday marked day 25 of their strike.

A video recording of several young American activists of Egyptian and Arab origins, who were abducted by security personnel at the Egyptian mission in New York "on the instructions of the Egyptian Foreign Minister" and taken inside the building when they attempted to demonstrate in front of the mission headquarters. One of the two abductees was a 15-year-old minor. The activists called the New York Police Department, which arrived to free the abductees and investigate the matter.
