Washington Democrats just PASSED $9.5 BILLION in taxes “This is the biggest tax increase in Washington state history.” “We are looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $8-$10 billion in NEW TAXES on the people of Washington. That's just the taxes to fund the operating budget that doesn't include all the taxes and fees, including a new gas tax and diesel tax to fund the transportation budget, but $8-$10 billion of taxes. This is the biggest tax increase in Washington state history. Despite Democrats' attempts to target those taxes to wealthy Washingtonians and big businesses, they're actually gonna hit ordinary everyday Washingtonians through things like higher housing costs, higher health care costs, higher grocery and food prices. In my State of the State address, I called for a Millionaires' Tax that puts a significant percentage of dollars back in the pockets of Washingtonians. We've reached the end of session, and the Millionaires' Tax has passed. With it, we have the biggest small business tax cut in state history, 460,000 additional working families receiving checks from the Working Families Tax Credit, and free school meals for all Washington kids. We seized the opportunity to make our tax system more fair.

Colorado families are already struggling to get by as the costs of childcare, rent, and groceries continue to skyrocket. The least we could do is make things a little bit easier and extend the ACA tax credits that make their health insurance more affordable. Working people deserve a break - millionaires don't need any more tax breaks. The way to fight Conservatives is to never to start acting like them. New Democrats will permanently remove the GST off essentials and make millionaires pay what they owe.
