Arizona is another state that belongs to ERIC to maintain its voter rolls. It registers voters directly from the motor vehicle department’s database and doesn’t care about the citizenship field.

Can confirm. It's probably higher than 50,000. More than 200,000 Arizona voters were sent letters to prove citizenship in July 2025. I was one of them, and was born here. What they said when I went in to show my birth certificate, was that it was "probably" because I registered young in the late 80's early 90's, the DMV didn't keep proof of citizenship back then. The letter told me I needed to validate citizenship or I would be switched to a FEDERAL ONLY ballot. Meaning they are going to or ALREADY HAVE switched anyone who didn't or doesn't provide proof of citizenship to FEDERAL ONLY voters. They will automatically get Federal Only Ballots anytime there are federal house/senate seats or presidential elections on the ballot. Only requiring proof of identity (utility bill, bank statement) if voting in person. Requiring nothing if voting by mail. Interestingly though, they still sent my voter registration card this year months before I ever took my birth certificate in. Makes me wonder what would have happened had I not. I so wanted to find out, but couldn't waste my primary vote.
