Arkansas State University is a federally funded institution, and I was just told there is “nothing they can do” about a student in university housing calling me a ni**er on video. I was encouraged to accept an apology from a friend of the RA and move on. Let me be clear: no Black student in this building feels safe right now. This did not happen off campus. It did not happen online. It happened in university housing, immediately after an RA meeting, and involved private details of my housing situation being shared. The response I received minimized the harm and shifted concern toward the comfort of those involved rather than the safety of Black students. Calling me a racial slur is not a misunderstanding. It is harassment. Treating it as something to be apologized away sends a message about whose safety matters. Happy Black History Month. We are still being told to be quiet, be polite, and accept less. If you live on campus, especially if you are a student of color, you deserve to feel safe where you sleep. #LRHN

The announcement was made during a service at Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama. 🚨 CROSSBOW ATTACK AT UNIVERSITY OF SURREY A man in his 50s has been left seriously injured after being shot with a crossbow at the Manor Park Student Village on the campus of University of Surrey in Guildford this morning. Emergency services were called shortly before 10am following reports of the attack. Surrey Police have arrested a 21 year old former student, reported to be a Saudi national, on suspicion of attempted murder. Officers say the suspect was detained at the scene and remains in custody. The victim, understood to be a member of the university’s campus safety team, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. A friend fowarded me this update as it is here on Whatsapp. "His name is Revd Cornelius Eze of Áwka Diocese Anglican Communion. He is a lecturer at Paul University, Awka, Anambra State. He was caught forcefully having sex with a female student, he jumped through the window, ran away with only his boxers. His car and his belongings were still within the school premises and he is no where to be found till now. He is declared wanted by the school authority. There are many of them I know that involved in this act while I was a staff of the university, going by my position as the PA to the Vice-Chancellor then, I have privy information available at my disposal but I keep shielding them because of the respect I have for PRIESTS. It is very unfortunate! Tell me how this one will handle this type of scandalous act.
