UPDATE: @HSIArizona confirms to @FOX10Phoenix its agents were serving a search warrant for narcotics and human smuggling. One person was arrested on federal charges and another WAS handed over to immigration officials, contradicting all earlier claims this was unrelated to immigration.

JUST IN: @PeoriaPoliceAZ have identified Tyler Hitte, 23, as the suspect seen assaulting an officer during yesterday's Peoria protest. She was also arrested during the ASU Gaza encampment in April 2024 and is awaiting trial for criminal trespass and burglary. @FOX10Phoenix

This morning we arrested 10 defendants for engaging in violence against officers and property earlier this year in connection with anti-immigration enforcement protests. They are now in federal custody. Among those arrested is Isai Carrillo, who was part of a violent group that attacked and threw rocks at federal agents as they exited the Glass House marijuana farm raid this summer. And if we don’t stop this escalation, more people are going to die. Kansas enacted the HALO Act, which makes it a crime for people to knowingly get within 25 feet of law enforcement officers performing certain duties. That may sound reasonable on paper. Until you see how ICE agents are weaponizing it. In this video, a public observer drove into an apartment complex parking lot. Once she was inside, ICE agents boxed her in with vehicles, and then began demanding that she move because she was supposedly within 25 feet of them. She tells them she is stuck. She explains she cannot move. The agent ignores her. He tells her to back up… but she tells him there is a vehicle behind her, and she cannot. She is trapped in a situation ICE created. Her options? Attempt to drive through agents and their unmarked vehicles… and risk them claiming she used her vehicle as a weapon. Or stay where she is… and risk being arrested. This is how people get hurt. Law enforcement is supposed to de-escalate situations… not create impossible choices where a U.S. citizen has to choose between an action that could get them arrested… or killed.
