A friend texted me this morning, demoralized that the pastor of his church of 12 years did not mention Charlie's assassination at all either. I was grateful to be in a church this morning where our pastor was not so reticent to teach that the Bible is relevant to the pain and horror the nation is experiencing at Charlie's death. At Iryna Zarutska's death. I was grateful that my children and some guests with us were able to hear that. The Bible is not a dead text. It is living and sharper than any two-edged sword. We can't be afraid to wield it in the darkest moments. Especially in the darkest moments.
