Brookings Radio is reporting that police are investigating the incident. “The City of Brookings Police Dept. was made aware of a possible assault that occurred during the boys soccer game at the complex. We are currently investigating this matter.” ℹ️

SDHSAA Exec. Dir. Dan Swartos made statements to the Brookings Beacon & Forum Communications⤵️ “It was a completely unacceptable action. There’s no place for it in sports or anywhere else. I’ll be working with both schools through the situation" ℹ️ "I always like to remind people that it's kids we're talking about here," Swartos said. "Nobody's perfect, and all of us have bad days and things we regret." ℹ️
