♦️ Earlier Today ♦️ The MMC for Public Safety attended court proceedings in Westonaria following the arrest of five members of the JMPD Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and two officers from the Recovery Unit by SAPS. According to preliminary information, the TRU officers responded to a tip-off and proceeded to recover a suspected stolen vehicle. While processing the scene, SAPS members from Bekkersdal arrived and arrested the JMPD officers. The charges brought forward appear to lack substantive basis. The officers’ service firearms, vehicles, and mobile devices were confiscated, and they were detained over the weekend. It has also been reported that JMPD Internal Affairs officials were not given information when attempting to inquire about the arrests. It is further alleged that the vehicle involved is linked to an individual associated with illegal mining operations. Carlsbad California Police officers arrested two suspects connected to multiple retail thefts after a Crime Suppression Team investigation linked them to thefts at several businesses throughout the city. After approximately $3,500 worth of merchandise was stolen from ALO Yoga, Officer Wainie used investigative leads to identify the suspect vehicle and link the suspects to additional thefts throughout Carlsbad. Carlsbad California Police officers arrested two suspects connected to multiple retail thefts after a Crime Suppression Team investigation linked them to thefts at several businesses throughout the city. After approximately $3,500 worth of merchandise was stolen from ALO Yoga, Officer Wainie used investigative leads to identify the suspect vehicle and link the suspects to additional thefts throughout Carlsbad. Later that evening, Officer Leyva located the suspect vehicle parked at another shopping center, where officers believed the suspects may have been targeting additional retailers. NEWS RELEASE: Four Denver metro teenagers were arrested earlier this month on state organized crime control charges following an extensive investigation by the Aurora Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Unit. #APDNews The suspects include Lennon Melgares, 18, of Edgewater, Xavier Chavez, 18, of Aurora, Jayden Velarde, 18, of Morrison, and a 17-year-old Lakewood teenager. Chavez was arrested Sept. 5 by the Aurora police SWAT Team. Melgares, Velarde and the Lakewood teenager were arrested Sept. 6 in Jefferson County with the assistance of the Jefferson County SWAT Team. The Lakewood teenager is not being identified because he is a minor. All four suspects face charges in Arapahoe District Court, which were filed under the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act.
