Humanitarian action saves lives. Development gives people a future. We need both. From day one. #UNDPEB 2/3

Development finance must evolve. Aid still matters. But aid alone cannot provide the financing needed. #UNDPEB 3/3

@UNDP ⬜️ ⬛️🟫🟨 🌎🌾DEV. FINANCE must evolve. From aid to unlocking [development] investment at scale. Using scarce public resources strategically to strengthen institutions. Reducing risk; mobilizing much larger flows of finance.🌾@alexanderdecroo ⬛️🟫🟨 🌱@Pontifex @Claudiashein🪻

The world has changed significantly since the #SDGs were negotiated, bringing new challenges and opportunities that call for renewed focus. In London, I joined leaders from across sectors for a timely gathering on the future of sustainable development. We discussed shared security and solidarity for people, planet and peace. We must treat development as the emergency it is. The decisions we make now will shape how the multilateral system evolves to support countries in the future.

Paradoxes loom. But the moment we decide that a new generation does not have within it the ability to shape the world it lives in — to shape the future — that is the true enemy of open society. So let us not be apathetic. The future is still yours to shape. Congrats, class of 2026!

I’ve created a project on Geyser ⚡️ to support the development of my new game and arcade cabinet. It’s already in development but I hope to get some funding to take it to the next level. Sharing is much appreciated!

Chancellor Merz: Our message to Russia is this: it is time to come to the negotiating table. It is time to agree to a ceasefire. It is time to end the unnecessary bloodshed in Ukraine. It will be up to Ukraine and its partners, not Moscow, to decide exactly how we shape our security guarantees. Ukraine is ready to end the war. It always has been. We, too, are open to peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, with the support of Europe and the United States. It is now entirely up to president Putin to seize this opportunity.

🚨 MARCO RUBIO JUST WARNED THE ENTIRE WORLD AND WENT OFF "Iran is trying to set up a TOLLING system in international waterway. That's just not acceptable. It can't happen. If that were to happen in the Straits of Hormuz, it will happen in 5 other places around the WORLD!" "WHY would countries all over the world say, well, we want to do this, too? Not to mention how vital and critical that strait is to every country represented here today, but frankly to countries not represented here today, particularly the Indo-Pacific."

We have a terrible problem with a lack of housing, which is driving up rents. We have a 1% vacancy rate. We need development desperately and quickly to bring the supply up and costs down across the board. Right now it takes 4 years to get a permit. I built LaGuardia airport in 4 years. My plan is to build 50,000 units a year because we can, and we will.

CHAD MIZELLE: It says in Article II, all executive power shall be vested in a president of the United States. That means if the president doesn't like how you're using HIS executive power, HE'S FREE TO TELL YOU TO STOP! So if you are not on board with the president's agenda, he's free to say, "You're not allowed to use my executive power. In fact, I don't want you in my government." Chad Mizelle

Jirka is 15 years old. He rushed to Old Town Square in Prague on Sunday to take part in a rally in support of Ukraine because he is convinced that people in Czechia should support Ukraine. "I came to express my support for Ukraine, we must not weaken our help, because this war concerns us too," Jirka said, adding that it is necessary to be interested in politics. "I have always been interested in what is happening here and in the world. If we didn't support Ukraine, we might regret it one day. Ukraine is also fighting for us," he added.

We must move away from tackling only symptoms and get to the root causes. The evidence is clear: development is where lasting progress starts. I shared today at the UN Development Executive Board that without investments in development, we won’t get ahead. We’ll just keep reacting.
