This evening, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Adv. F.T. Mhona, delivered the Keynote Address at the Welcome Dinner held in honour of Air Zimbabwe's Harare–London Gatwick Flights Celebration, at The Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch, London, marking the national carrier's return to direct flights between the two cities after a 16-year hiatus. Addressing guests, Hon. Mhona described the milestone as the most visible expression of Zimbabwe's re-engagement agenda, manifested in the skies, noting that the restored route will strengthen trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people ties between Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom and Europe. The Minister said the flight, which touched down at Gatwick Airport at 08:10AM, carried more than passengers, but renewed friendship, restored confidence and reciprocal opportunity. Hon. Mhona paid tribute to the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority for the thorough and equitable process that culminated in the granting of the Foreign Operator Permit to Air Zimbabwe, stressing that the permit was earned on merit and would be kept on merit. He urged Zimbabweans in the diaspora, British investors and the broader business community to embrace the route as it reconnects Zimbabwe with the world. Speaking at the event, the Zimbabwean Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Col. (Rtd) C.M. Katsande, welcomed guests and set the tone for the evening, while the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. T. Mnangagwa (MP), delivered the closing remarks, underscoring the significance of the route for Zimbabwe's tourism sector. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. T. Mnangagwa (MP); Mutapa Investment Fund, represented by Deputy Chief Investment Officer Mr E. Denhere; the Acting UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe, represented by Dr Jo Abbot; Air Zimbabwe Board Chairperson Dr. S. Gwarinda and Board Members; Air Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer Mr E. Yesterday, I had the distinct honour and privilege of being entrusted by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, to represent him at the official opening of ED Block at Millennium Heights. It was a great privilege to witness first-hand the remarkable progress of this visionary development, for which His Excellency had the honour of breaking ground. ED Block stands in a class of its own. With 130 exceptional apartments, including 10 luxurious penthouses, it represents a new benchmark in quality, design and modern living in Zimbabwe. The broader Millennium Heights development is an ambitious vision comprising 10 blocks and approximately 1,500 residences and apartments—a significant investment that reflects confidence in Zimbabwe's future and the possibilities that exist when vision, enterprise and leadership converge. I was particularly encouraged to see the 1 BILLION BRICKS vision of Mr. Ken Sharpe taking tangible shape and to witness the remarkable contribution that His Excellency's leadership and support have made in helping bring this vision to fruition. As a Presidential Envoy and Ambassador-at-Large, I remain deeply honoured to serve and to represent the President on occasions that showcase Zimbabwe's progress, excellence and investment potential. A new standard has been set. A vision is becoming reality. Zimbabwe is building for the future. #PresidentialEnvoy #AmbassadorAtLarge #Zimbabwe #MillenniumHeights #EDBlock ZimbabweRising InvestmentInZimbabwe Development Leadership Vision Harare

The Bird has landed! 🇿🇼✈️ Air Zimbabwe’s Airbus A330 has arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport ahead of the historic resumption of direct Harare–London Gatwick flights on 22 July 2026, operating three times a week. This route reconnects Zimbabwe directly with one of its largest tourism, business and diaspora markets after a 14-year absence. In 2025, approximately 190,000 passengers travelled between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom, with the Harare–London market accounting for nearly 108,000 two-way passenger journeys, despite travellers having to connect through foreign airports. With about 302 seats per flight and three weekly return services, the route could provide more than 94,000 passenger seats annually. It will reduce travel time and connection costs while boosting tourism receipts, diaspora travel, trade, air cargo, hotel occupancy, airport revenue and employment. The service will also help Air Zimbabwe retain revenue that has historically benefited foreign airlines and transit hubs. Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport handled 1,191,309 passengers between January and September 2025, demonstrating Zimbabwe’s growing aviation market. Under President E.D. Mnangagwa’s leadership President of Zimbabwe , Zimbabwe is restoring strategic international connectivity and positioning Harare as a competitive regional aviation hub. Zimbabwe is Open for Business — London, here we come! 🇿🇼🇬🇧
