You won’t regret listening to this clip today from John MacArthur about his fixed time on earth. A Death for the Glory of God — John MacArthur // September 7, 2014 It’s a proverb, and the proverb is simple, very simple proverb. You can’t lengthen the daylight. You can’t shorten the daylight, right? Nothing any friend can do can lengthen the daylight. Nothing any enemy can do can shorten the daylight. It is what it is and it is fixed by God, and so is my life. No enemy can shorten it. No friend can lengthen it. It is what it is. And in that light of life which God has ordained for me, I will not stumble. That is to say, nothing will happen to me that is outside the plan. I’m not going in the dark. I’m going in the light of God’s divine day. A day can’t finish before its ordained end. The time allotted to me to accomplish my earthly ministry is fixed. It’s fixed by God. It can’t be lengthened by any precautionary measures. You don’t have to go hide somewhere in a cave. You don’t have to avoid conflict. You don’t have to run from your enemies because you can’t lengthen your life, and you can be bold and you can step right into the face of your enemies because they can’t shorten it. I tell you, just from my own personal standpoint, I live in that confidence. I can’t do anything. Neither can anybody else to lengthen my life. I’m not afraid that somebody, some enemy can do anything to shorten my life. My day is what God has ordained it will be, and in that I go forward with confidence and boldness. Jesus knew that His hour was coming, but it hadn’t come yet, and many times He’d said, “My hour hasn’t come. My hour hasn’t come.” And He escaped all of the plots and all of the mob violence. This has great application for us I think to realize that if you’re walking in the Spirit and serving the Lord, you have your day. Being a coward and taking all kinds of precautionary steps and not being faithful isn’t going to lengthen it; and being bold in the face of enemies isn’t going to shorten it because it is what God has ordained it to be.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, on why the iPhone, the greatest consumer device ever made, is the wrong hardware for the AI era: Sam argues the iPhone's basic design wasn't made for a world where AI needs to live alongside your entire life. "I think the iPhone is currently the greatest piece of consumer hardware ever made by a lot. Like, incredible what that has done." The iPhone was designed for a pre-AI world. Sam Altman explains: "It was not meant for a world where you needed a piece of hardware that could absorb all of the context of your life. You know, you can use the phone, you can stop using the phone, you can put it in your pocket, but it's kind of like on or off." That binary, on or off, in use or in your pocket, is the core mismatch. A device that flips between active and dormant can't continuously absorb the context that a personal AGI would need to actually be useful to you. Sam uses the conversation he's having in that moment as the example: "This has been a very interesting conversation. I would love this to be referenced by my personal AGI later, but my phone is in my pocket and it's not going to understand." The vision he's pointing toward is a device that participates differently: "I would like a device that, if I wanted to, can participate and understand and know about this conversation." The shift Sam is describing is from a device you pick up and put down, to one that quietly captures the context of your life. Without that continuous context, a personal AGI can't actually be personal.

So the discourse around this Dave Ramsey clip is so mixed up that I’ve just decided to upload the whole thing. In the full context of the call, the caller makes it perfectly obvious that: 1. She has been with this man, whom she is now living with, for six years. 2. She is a nurse and can make her own money. 3. She has been out of school for two years, and in that time she has paid off $70,000 of the debt. In the course of the call, Dave never suggests that this man should have to pay for that debt. Indeed, he actively suggests that she leave him, which guarantees he will not pay for the debt. Dave also all but says that, because of her career choice, the caller will be able to pay for the debt on her own, even if she has to take extra hours. All Dave is saying—and this should have been obvious from the original clip—is that the two are not aligned on money and debt at all. It is also clear that Dave thinks the man is stringing her along, which he is. So they simply should not be married at all, because this is a fundamental failure in the relationship. I myself would add that, at this late stage in the relationship, if you do not trust a woman financially, you should simply not be with that woman. And that is perfectly fine. But what you do not do is drag her along for six years when she obviously wants to get married, and then put another two or three years of financial hoops in front of her so that maybe you will propose. It is a waste of everybody’s time.

Dear Pilgrim, Hear what this preacher said in 1997: "Gospel music ministers have agents who pimp them to the highest bidder" This was 28 years ago! If we keep trying to be politically correct, the lines will keep getting blurred until there are no lines. Sadly, we will leave battles we should have fought and won for our children. This is the story of 2025. If when asked if a Christian minister should have sex before marriage, or if a Christian minister should serve with integrity, we can answer yes or no. Why is it so hard for ALL of us Christians to agree on the Biblical standard for charging money in ministry? Why is it that matters of money have become such a big snare in the body? Why can't we just look at the Bible and do as it recommends? Why do matters of Babylon's gold always have to be stylishly evaded as matters of personal consecration? A church invites you to minister. This church will take care of transportation, accommodation, and feeding for you (and your team if applicable), and you feel it's right, in addition, to DEMAND a specific fee for ministry to them? How can we be arguing this for God's sake? How can you be demanding how much you must be given or paid? Is it no longer ministry? Then somebody says, "If they can not pay, they should forget I will go where they can pay." So how much money a church can pay now becomes part of the indices for determining which invite to accept. How sad!!! Whether music minister or preacher, anyone demanding a specific fee for ministry is a hireling. We shouldn't be politicizing these things. The person is "stealing" by trick. The church should honour and be a blessing to a minister financially. That's scriptural. However, it's not in the place of the minister to demand how much that honour should be. This should be very simple for us to agree on as Christians. Yes! Some churches abuse people in the name of ministry. I have been through it, Nathaniel Bassey has been through it. Many on CT have been through it. Any true minister has been through this before, and if you haven't, you will go through it. You won't be the first nor the last. It's part of the way God ensures that your heart in His service is in the right place. Some men will treat you poorly and despitefully use you, "in the name of God." However, this will never be a good enough reason to charge a fee for ministry. If your heart turns to begin to charge because of this, you were never in the service of Jesus. You were and are in ministry for your belly. Jesus didn't do it. When He sent His disciples out, He asked them not to do it. We shouldn't do it either. And we all should be bold enough to say this is the standard and leave every man to his conscience. At the seat of Christ, when all men's works will be tried and rewarded accordingly, no one will say he or she was not told. The fire will prove all men's works at the end. I pray you don't leave this matter until then. Let him that reads understand!
