Terance Mann on the lesson he wants to impart to the Nets’ rookies "A lot of these young guys come from situations where they have the ball most of the time. They're the main guy... There's a lot of money to be made in this league not being that person, but being a guy that's waiting on his turn, being a guy that comes every day on time, being a guy that gets extra shots, being the guy that stays late, comes in early, being a great locker room guy, respecting everybody. There's a lot of money to be made when you're that guy. And a lot of people come to this league and they just want to be the guy, they all want to be that All-Star. They all want to take 10-plus shots a game, they all want to play 30 minutes, but that's not what it's all about. And a lot of championship teams understand that, and that's really what I want to bring to this organization."

Krauss: That doesn’t look suspicious to me at all, having worked with a lot of A-list talent who are out there shaking a lot of hands. I mean, the guy is an elderly man. Your skin gets thinner as you get older.

🐺 to know all our stays, wherever you’re from, doesn’t matter how old you are, who you choose to be, what you do. the fact that we all share one mind and one heart here together, i think that’s all that matters. if you had a good time today, if you had a time that you did not have to think about anything else, and just this moment and have fun with us, that’s all that matters to us

Abdul Carter: Grown man answer “Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself in what he does, but he represents all of us. And that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform. But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world. “That doesn’t mean that we have to spread hate. It doesn’t mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day. Every team meeting we’re close, we talk. As long as we make sure we got the same goal as a team and our goals align – which they do – that’s all that matters. I just want to move past this, and that’s it.” Full press conference YouTube

.Naval: First of all, I don't think of myself. I just want to be clear on that. And that's not a rule. It's just a habit I've kind of developed because I found that thinking about yourself is a source of all unhappiness and misery. Self obsession is the root of all unhappiness. What did Buddha do? Conquer the self. What does that mean? Means that he saw through the illusion of the separate self. Did Buddha think about himself? Not for an instant. Anyone that you think of as an enlightened being does not think about themselves for an instant. The happiest people in life when people are at their best is because they love something more than they love themselves. They love their children, they love God, they love their mission, what have you. And all misery comes from rumination, from sitting around, being depressed, going in circles in your own head about me, me, me, me, me. Me is a disease. And you need a concept of a me to be effective and to keep track of things. You have a memory, you have certain predilections, you have personality patterns. But the more you self obsess, the less happy you're going to be. I guarantee you that.

Martin Scorsese explains why money doesn't mean anything to him: "When I’m dealing with a Hollywood film, that means I have to do a certain kind of subject matter that will make a certain amount of money. If I decide to make less money, that means I can take a risk on subject matter. So the only criterion on the films I’m willing to take risks on is that it be truthful, that it be honest about your own feelings and truthful to what you know to be the reality around you or the reality of the human condition of the characters. If it’s something that’s not honest, not truthful, then it’s a problem. If you don’t believe in it, why are you making it? You’re going to offend people to make some money? What for? It doesn’t mean anything. The money doesn’t mean anything. All that matters is the work, just what’s up on the screen. So that’s it. I’m not like some great person who’s out there undaunted, fighting off all these people." (From Scorsese's interview with Anthony Decurtis, 1990) Clip from: After Hours (1985) Director: Martin Scorsese

Donovan Mitchell on taking a step back: “It's on me to take a step back. There’s a trust level. It’s the playoffs, it doesn’t matter who it is. I know who I am, yall know who I am. To me, I could score zero, and if we win, that's all that matters. I don't give a damn.”

Ariel Helwani is asked to share his thoughts on recent comments from Michael Bisping and “Flat Earth” Froch: “My takeaway was I felt really sad for Michael Bisping, because I can’t imagine what it would be like to have once been a ‘bad boy,’ to once be a ‘rule breaker,’ a pioneer, a trailblazer, a guy who marches to the beat of his own drum — to be that guy who did whatever the hell he wanted and didn’t kowtow and didn’t shill — was a rebel. That’s who Michael Bisping was. And the guy that I was watching in that clip in particular, and the guy we have seen over the past year or so — what he has morphed into, what he has turned into — is the polar opposite of that guy. And he knows this. And he has to look at himself in the mirror each and every day and pretend that he is still that guy, and pretend like perhaps that guy never existed, when he knows he has morphed into this zombie, this shill, this guy who has had his brain infected by this virus, all because he wants someone to be like: ‘Good on ya, mate — here’s 5K to call the next Apex card, and please do your best to put over how great all this is. And if you do a good job, we’ll pat you on the head and give you the next big slap fighting gig at the Fontainebleau.’ This is what he is striving for. He is striving for someone to say, ‘Thank you for doing that. Thank you for saying that about big bad, ugly Ariel Helwani,’ so that maybe someday he could get on — I don’t know — that Fight Night in Austin, Texas. And then maybe, maybe, just one day, if something happens to DC, if something happens to Dominick Cruz, and something happens to Rogan, then maybe he can get that PPV. All to get there. That’s exactly what he’s become. He’s become the guy who will do anything in his power to get favor with his bosses — as much as he doesn’t want to admit that — just so that he could get that opportunity, that big break, that big fight at your local Apex, your local arena, at some random place in America. And so he has to turn to this. And that’s a bummer, because I remember the old guy. The old guy was actually a really good friend. And all of a sudden, he just changed, and he says all these things and makes up all these stories and has all this vitriol towards me — someone that has never done anything but support him, but have his back. I’ve told the stories many, many times… He now teams up with Flat Earth Froch, who can’t stop talking about me — even though he says he doesn’t want to talk about me — but all he does is talk about me.” Ariel Helwani #TheArielHelwaniShow
