India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar delivered a firm and measured message to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Beijing will find difficult to overlook. Jaishankar stated, “You speak of multipolarity and Asian solidarity, and we share that vision. But such principles cannot coexist with tolerance toward nations that shelter terrorists.” He added, “If you extend cooperation on matters concerning Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, we will support you on issues related to Taiwan, and expect you to ensure that Pakistan hands over Hafiz Saeed.” The message was clear: cooperation must be based on mutual respect and shared responsibility. Jaishankar concluded by saying that if China continues to shield those responsible for terrorism in Pakistan, India will have no hesitation in deepening its engagement with NATO and its Indo-Pacific partners. He reminded that such a shift would naturally affect the Belt and Road Initiative and regional stability.
