@dhh I bought a brother a3 printer after getting fed up with canon taking forever to print. The brother just sits there ready as soon as press print and walk over the print out is done! Amazing

@dhh I found Brother printers in 2010 after a long search trying to get away from HP. HP was constant notifications and bloatware actively consuming limited computing power: a distraction and a hog and not even good, all to print a piece of paper.

And I chose not to because I rather own it than pretend it never happened. I’m not using my age or where I am from as an excuse; that’s only for context. But the responsibility to understand the weight of the word was mine, and I came to understand it on my own. I already talked about this when I just started streaming, to my Polish viewers, before anyone dug it up now. But the video from this is long gone, so I don’t have a recording of it. You can take my word for it or not I’m not gonna push anyone to believe me. I said openly many times that I said stupid things in the past that i wouldn’t say today, that I regret, and I am ashamed of it. Often, I was the one who brought this topic up. Nobody was trying to cancel me or pressure me into talking about it I talked about it on my own. Also, the same clip actually came up once before, around the time I was first introduced to an international audience. And I didn’t address it then not because I wanted to ignore it I just didn’t feel confident enough in explaining something that difficult in English, which I said in my stream in Polish. 🖨️ It took over a year and lots of help from Claude Code but I have now been able to create a real dot matrix printer on the web that prints from Windows 3.11 in your browser: Here's the test page: I couldn't get the LPT1 port to work but COM2 did work (the dial up model already uses COM1), the JS receives the COM2 serial data (just raw print data) and then prints it Next is to make the dot matrix printer better looking (kinda 3d like on pieter dot com) and have the paper also flowing in 3d out of the printer and integrate it on the page My idea was that it might work because we also capture the COM1 data (from the dial up modem) and send it to a Websocket as a dial up connection, so we should be able to capture the COM2 traffic too but I didn't know how, but now I do IT WORKS!! 😊

mingyu talking about their tiny desk concert video 🖤 🐶 i wasn't able to sleep until 5am earlier, i wanted to post the tiny desk video on my ig right away and i feel proud [of what we did] and i was really nervous as well. we were in washington dc for around 5 days and we rehearsed for that to prepare and then filmed, and it wasn't really easy. we really had nothing - there was no audio coming out from the mic and it was just my raw voice. we didn't have any in-ears, we weren't singing over a backing track either but with a live band so i was pretty nervous. so i was contemplating if i should do it or not but i kind of just went for it at the end. it was a good experience and i just went for it thinking, "when will we ever get to do this?" seeing us, seventeen, on npr is so fascinating in itself and i felt very proud of what we achieved that's why i liked it.

Zack Snyder discusses virtual production technology with the Russo Bros. and explains why he chose to build practical sets for Rebel Moon: "The idea of this sort of virtual production that's really interesting is that it does come back around. The green screen environment is an exclusive world, right? "Like there's not a lot of guys that can make a movie with no sets. Because as it is now, there's a thousand visual effects artists between that green screen and it being in your movie. "In the virtual production version, anybody who walks in there with a camera... The desert is there. And they can go and film it. So in a lot of ways it's kind of... it demystifies visual effects a little bit. "The thing that I've always found a little off-putting about a big green screen environment is it's not really engaging for anybody. Even for us, even for the filmmakers. We've been looking at the concept, we know what it is. "And the actors especially are like, 'I don't know where the hell I am.' Like, 'I guess... Okay, whatever you guys say, I'll do it.'" Anthony Russo: "But for camera operators too, right? It's just like there's nothing to grab on to." Snyder: "Yeah, I don't know, tilt up to the mountain. What mountain?" Joe Russo: "No, no, it's a little higher." Snyder: "Yeah, exactly. I think it's a small mountain. "Anyway, but I do think that the introduction of this kind of virtual productions as a concept really brings sort of physicality back to visual effects. And sort of a fantastic world. "You really can, you know, you can feel it and see it. They can put Atmos in, it can really feel like you're in a place. Which is really just... You're more passionate about it, you know, filming it. "Like I did a small thing that we were just really more of an experiment. And I was really fascinated by like, you know, they're like, 'Okay, here's, we have a cave set with light shafts coming through these holes in the ceiling.' And then we were like, literally, you know, 'Okay, now we're in like this forest.' "And it was the same rocks, but suddenly they didn't look like- they worked in both spots. It was just, I was like, 'Wow, this is really...' And even the focus and everything, the wall understood the depth of field as well. "So like everything, like especially in the eyepiece was like, 'Wow, that's scary.' That's like, feels like I'm there. So I think there's huge potential and hugely exciting future for that technology. "You know, as it becomes more available to like, and also scale, I think, you know, from this to like also being able to have, you know, 100 guys standing around inside of, you know, a giant environment would be just, it's just cool. Which they're doing now anyway, everyone's doing it. "But what was funny, because like on the movie that we're working on now, we ended up, we took a deep dive into it. And it just, the reason why we ended up not doing it in the end was because we just, we have these big war scenes. "And I had like 100 guys, you know, and we were just like, I don't even like, the amount of French reverses I have to do, everyone's brains were exploding. "Because, you know, you're always like, I'm like, 'Oh, just flip the set again and flip the set again.' And then for his reverse, we flipped the set that way and we flipped the set that way. "And so we had to build all the, all in the design, everything was symmetrical, right? Like the bridges and the houses were kind of symmetrical. "So you could always be flipping and not tell... because the sets were all symmetrical. You could shoot them from both sides and it was kind of the same. But the audience couldn't tell because the backgrounds were not symmetrical. "So it was only the immediate stuff, you know. It was, so it was a bit of a brain teaser for everyone. And then in the end, we were like, because of the scale of the fighting, I was like, 'Oh, let's just...' "So now we're just building it up the road. "But it's cool. "It's fun to build a giant thing as well. Just to go there and like, 'Oh my God, we made a village.'

YOKO ONO: ONOCHORD, VENICE, 2004 Yoko: The world is divided in two industries. One is the War Industry and the other is the Peace Industry. The people in the War Industry are totally together. They don't have to talk to each other, even. They know exactly what they want to do. They want to go out there, kill and make money. But the people in the Peace Industry, which are us - we are so idealistic that each one of us criticises the other Peace Person in the Peace Industry. And we are always just arguing and we are wasting our energies doing that. So let's just forgive each other and see that we are in the Peace Industry and that's all that counts. Even if you are not marching for peace, just be yourself, being a florist, being a merchant, being a talior, anything. That way you're contributing to the Peace Industry. People are just concentrating on fear, confusion and anger. And therefore just for a moment, I'd like us to think about Love. In a very magical, straight way, John and I met in London and from then on we stood for Peace and Love. And when I do this kind of event. Well it is... I was inspired to do it, but I still think that I'm still with John in spirit. John and I created the country called Nutopia. Not Utopia, because there was Utopia as a concept already. And we wanted to create a new concept, so we just added N on it - Nutopia - and as a country. Well, that is the concept of a country. And we all are citizens of that country. And in my apartment in the Dakota Building, we put a little plaque on the back door, the kitchen door. It says 'Nutopian Embassy' and even now we have that. (laughs). Nutopia exists in our minds. And because of that, some people want to rebel against it. The reason some want to rebel against it is a good proof that it exists. I think that it was a terrible thing that happened in Chechnya. But we have to still keep our hopes up. And instead of giving up, we have to keep on sending the message of Love to each other. You say that I am the Ambassador of Peace. We are all Ambassadors of Peace. You are too. Everybody in this room are Ambassadors of Peace. Just the fact that we are not participating in War. The fact that we are here, and we are what we are, means that we are in the Peace Industry. All of us. John and I used to say that our apartment in the Dakota is a conceptual monastry, just for the two of us. And when we go out of the Dakota, we get so many people communicating with us, so it's very important that we had silence and quietness. And my apartment is a very small space compared to the world. And I need that for my peace of mind. You should be kind to each other. You should come together, hug each other, love each other, express our love to each other and we should make it work. We should finally create a world that is a totally an Earth for Us. So let's do it.
