Did a Scottish guy in the pub come up with Wind in the Willows?

Many, many, many, many years ago I frequented a pub, occasionally a Scotsman would describe films to me in the same manner as above, always ending with the rejoinder that Lee Van Cleef should play the lead. Lee Van Cleef would have played an excellent Badger.
