I don't think that's the intent, but that's the beauty of art you can layer your own meanings onto it.If it resonates with you that way, that's what makes it great.Artists might mean A or nothing deep but viewers see B, C. or even a number instead of a letter. That's the magic.

I think that’s the intent. There’re more evidence from the original manuscript

While mainstream critics pedestrianly point to Old Man Marley as a Christ figure, they fail to recognize the far more terrifying theological presence at the dinner table. Fuller McCallister, the bespectacled younger cousin, is not merely a bed-wetter; he is the Old Testament embodiment of the Great Flood, a divine agent of aqueous retribution sent to cleanse the McCallister bloodline of its bourgeois sins. I. The Pepsi as the Chalice of Judgment. Note the specificity of the script. Fuller does not drink milk or juice; he drinks Pepsi. In the liturgy of Home Alone, the Pepsi can is the chalice of wrath. When Uncle Frank creates the "limit" ("Go easy on the Pepsi!"), he is attempting to stay the hand of God, acting as a frantic human trying to prevent the inevitable theological climate event. Fuller ignores him. Fuller drinks. He stares directly at Kevin (Representative Man) with a grin that says, "I am the rain that falls for forty days and forty nights." II. The Bed as the Fallen Earth. The film frames Fuller’s bed-wetting not as a biological incontinence, but as an ecological inevitability. He is a hydrologic weapon. Kevin’s refusal to sleep in the same bed as Fuller is not sibling annoyance; it is the instinctual fear of drowning. Kevin knows that to sleep with Fuller is to be submerged in the chaotic waters of judgment before he has built his Ark. III. The Attic as Mount Ararat. Because of Fuller’s threat of the "wet," Kevin is exiled to the attic. This is the crucial moment of salvation history. Fuller (The Flood) forces Kevin to ascend to the highest point of the structure (Mount Ararat). By driving Kevin out of the "sinful" general population of the house—who are obsessed with French travel and microwave dinners—Fuller inadvertently saves Kevin’s life. When the power lines go down (the storm), Kevin is safe on high ground, while the rest of the family vanishes into the ether of the Paris flight. IV. The Coat of Many Colors. Observe Fuller’s winter coat. It is oversized, puffy, and burdens him. It represents the weight of his terrible knowledge. He knows the waters are coming. He knows he is the vessel. Conclusion: Fuller is not a child. He is an eschatological event. He consumes the carbonated fluids of the modern world and transmutes them into divine punishment, forcing the hero to ascend to the heavens (the third floor) to find redemption. Fuller is the Alpha and the Omega of hydration.

Marley is Kevin when Kevin is old. Thats the whole point of the movie. Old "Kevin" gives him a glimpse of how life will be if he keeps fighting with his family. Thats why when Kevin understands and hugs his mom you can see old Marley hugging his son.
