This question has been a debate for centuries in France. French Atheists Historian: The Catholic inquisition persecuted women because they pretended to be witches. 100 thousand were burned. French Catholic Historian: The period called the inquisition and the period called 'witch hunt' didn't happen at the same time at all. In France, it was forbidden by the Kings and the Church for priests to participate in any of the trials run by locals, in fact, they often tried to defend and save them. 10 thousand were killed, a few burned at the stake over 100 years.

Lawrence Krauss was an embarassment basing his argument off his personal feelings and traumas. Any atheist with any integrity should admit how embarassing this loss was.

the Church, as an institution made up of flawed human beings, has had its share of serious failures throughout history. acknowledging this isn't an attack on christianity itself but an honest reckoning with the reality.
