DID HE SAY 500?? 😭😭
31 Comments

Just let people enjoy what dey want without gatekeeping

He is not wrong. If you’ve grown up on anime and have seen plenty of it, you know the ins and outs of the subculture that comes with it. Somebody who’s only seen 20 series cannot even begin to comprehend how deep it goes. And that includes watching series from decades past because you can gradually witness the changes in the medium over time. A person who studies filmology and history of cinema will tell you the same thing because they’ve seen plenty of movies multiple times to try to analyze both the meaning and the technicalities of the captured frames.

I hope you guys understand him. It’s pretty clear that’s he mention "opinion". He’s not forcing anyone to watch 500 anime, he’s just saying your opinion doesn’t really count if you haven’t watched that many. You’re free to watch as little as you want, even just one episode sometimes. Just don’t claim your opinion carries weight if you haven’t seen at least 500 anime.

Nobody has seen 500 anime series

Damn! 1 more and I can start having an opinion. I agree with him though. Majority in this app have no clue what they're talking about when all they watched are the mainstream anime like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, ... And I'm not saying those are bad, but they're bad refs.

😭

these are rookie numbers for Japanese citizens step your game up broddie 🤝

I'm ok with this... get the tourists out of here!

He is actually correct in his opinion. 500 series is a bit much, but back in Korea when reviewer for cinema magazine actually meant something. The minimum requirement for the any writer, even a temporary reviewer was 2500 movies. They had to submit at minimum 2500 review of movies they've watched to qualify. So, the bar shud be high for your opinion to actually valuable.

When I was in college I was watching almost every anime series that came out every season. Was like 20+ so this is def possible for those otakus. Its not practical and I had no life and it doesnt make my opinion more relevant

I won't lie... I agree with him. its real. I follow the same code. I won't say 500 but definitely somewhere higher than 100. And frankly, its ONLY a feeling and understanding you get about anime once you seen and experienced so many of them to see the diversity & versatility.

my nigga that is just lame Anime is something to watch in you're free time It's not a job you don't have to force yourself to watch 500 anime to give your opinion And it's goes was any media like gaming and movies Just enjoy what you're doing And say what you want to say

500, to have a valid reason?!

What a pretentious LOSER!

Those are rookie numbers.

Depends if you've actually completed the series. Seeing 500 clips from different shows isn't the same as watching them
Im half way there

500??? I can’t even name 20. Naruto One piece Bleach Fairy tail Jjk Fbje Fmabh Pokemon Black clover Classroom of the elite Re zero Demon slayer Attack on titans Tokyo ghoul A silent voice Your name Jose and the tiger fish. Your lie in April Rising of the shield hero My hero academia.

>says aot has 18 seasons

I couldn’t name 500 of anything but this show was dope 😭

I'm one of them (its outdated need to update it bur for now here)

He's right you can't compare someone who watched 100+ anime to an occasional Netflix kinda of anime watcher and it shows in their opinions on endings or creative stuff i've been watching anime since i was 3 years old you and me are not the same sorry not sorry 🙄

I'm not actually past 1000, considering there are multiple entries for seasons, but yeah, he has a point.

It's not about the amount; it's the way you explain why an anime or manga series is good or bad that matters. If come to me and say One Piece is terrible and that's it no explanation at all, that's when you should say GTFOH. That's when you realize skill matters more than hours.

The only people upset by this are literal tourists, most likely ones who only watch shōnen fighter trash who’ve seen maybe a dozen shows total.

Doesn’t really matter to me how many you watch, because you can still have a dumb opinion. Be intelligent in your logic instead, know what you’re talking about.

Haha, 500 series all with multiple episodes?! How does he have the time?

He lowkey has a point though, the anime community should at least respect people in a hierarchy sort of form, if you watched more and for longer then there opinions should be more valid when it comes to facts, everyone can have opinion but to claim fact you have to have seen alot

@KenshiroHuey No, I feel him because I’ve gone on some real deep runs before with very obscure shows. That’s why anytime any of my boys want to ask about an anime or one suggestion they always call me and I asked him what they looking for and I’ll pick out something crazy.

No-life weeb could probably watch 2 shows a day, avoiding One Piece, Bleach, Gintama etc, so that's 250 days challenge. If you do it only on weekends, 125 weeks, so about 2,5 years to get the qualification.

I agree with him, when you onky watch one genere only in recent times because it's now popular stfu when discussions are being had about stuff outside of your little bubble. It's no different from an apprentice trying to tell a master technician what will and won't work.
