Did Jaycee Horn make a great play here? Absolutely. But the throw was late because Brock hitched twice after a 7 step drop. Deep dig footwork on their play action drop back is 7 + 1 hitch, not two. That extra hitch allowed Horn to fly across to pick it.

IMO this is the play Brock got hurt on. If Jennings wants a new contract, I’m showing him this shit right here. His get off is late so when Brock wants to throw, he can’t because he’s not even breaking out. CMC is open and I’d like him to get to the check down quicker but this was doomed at the snap.

The mood is probably completely different today if he throws it to him. Watching the replay AJ seems very open. Hurts seems to be looking. He has a super clean pocket. Hurts was asked after if he saw AJ and here is what he said: "No, no, I could have definitely alerted him. He popped on the vision. [Panthers CB] Jaycee Horn kind of fell back. Ideally you like to alert him. And the corner falls off, and you high low a flat player there. And [Panthers S Xavier Woods] was the flat player there, he got some depth. Just took my flats." Definitely a missed opportunity
