Jesus says, “the Father is greater than I” (John 14:28), and “I can do nothing on my own… I seek not my own will but the will of Him who sent me” (John 5:30). In John 17:3, Jesus refers to the Father as “the only true God” and himself as the one whom God sent. In John 20:17, even after his resurrection, Jesus refers to the Father as “my God and your God.” Paul likewise distinguishes them in 1 Corinthians 8:6, saying, “for us there is one God, the Father… and one Lord, Jesus Christ.” These statements clearly present Jesus as the one sent by God, dependent upon God, submitting to God’s will, and distinguishing himself from God—not as God Himself. Conclusion. In that sense, Jesus was Muslim: he worshipped the one true God, submitted himself to God’s will, and called people to worship God alone. That is precisely what the word Islam means—submission to the one God.

Jesus didn’t need the exact phrase “I am God.” He said, “Before Abraham was, I AM” (Jn 8:58), forgave sins (Mk 2:5–12), demanded the same honor as the Father (Jn 5:23), and accepted Thomas calling Him “My Lord and my God” (Jn 20:28). The claim is clear.
