@_Pluri Plate Armor wasn't really worn over thick garments though? There was a short transitional period, when coats of plates were worn on gambesons, but after that arming doublets became the standard, and these aren't thick

@_Pluri Did that mean plate armor was an effective insulator in cold conditions or did the metal of the suit get cold and therefore be a detriment to keeping warm?

@_Pluri Plate armor itself wasn’t insulating, but it didn’t significantly make you colder either. The warmth came from the padded clothing worn underneath, while the armor mainly blocked wind and weather.

@_Pluri I imagine all warriors throughout history probably got quite stinky for those reasons. Knights, Samurai, Roman Legionaries, Vikings, etc

@_Pluri And best be voiding your bowels before you get your field plate on.
