It was working just fine before btw. I was basically forced to update since it wouldn't let me play the SV DLCs without the new "digital game card" thing

A software update wouldn't cause this btw. Just pointing that out because people are already saying that Nintendo pulled an Apple. This is a known issue with older switchs batteries sadly, mine is from 2018 and is still fine enough but definitely way worse than on purchase

So it's just a coincidence that it started right after updating?

Just look how to calibrate a Sw battery. Usually is something like let it deplete and charge it to 100% right after.

I've had this issue before. Usually when using a USB charger that isn't the official one. It'll get to 1% then stay there for hours so its just reading it wrong. Just let the battery completely drain, to the extent you can't turn it on. Then fully charge with the Switch charger.

That’s the rate that my year 1 standard Switch’s battery goes down when I play Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
