She was perfectly fine handing it out, and took it in the hand herself. I call BS.

The 2nd century, Bishop Dionysius said: “This man… stood before the table & extended his hands to accept the holy food; he received it... partaking in the Body and Blood of the Lord...” The 4th century, St. Cyril said: “When you approach… w/ your left hand make a throne for your right hand since you are to receive the King. In the hollow of your hand receive the Body of Christ & say, ‘Amen’.”

Full episode:

Oh come on! This must be hyperbole. Of all the evils that Mother Theresa witnessed, she thinks that what my mother does at Mass every Sunday, which she was taught to do by priests and nuns, is the greatest evil she could witness? Give me a break.

No. Popes have said receiving communion on the hand is perfectly fine. End of the matter.

Matt you shouldn’t be sowing division like this with something the church permits and that the Saint Mother herself did. Your pursuit of clicks and pandering to rad trads for views has made some of your content hard to follow.

@PaperboyAnon You mean like this?

Did she tell Benedict and JPII who gave communion in the hand to a Protestant?

Absolutely honest question from a convert. The Bible reads that Jesus gives His Apostles the power to bind and loose. I believe that if the CHURCH says something and loosens a tradition like taking the eucharist in our hands, then they have Christ's authority to do so. How is it possible that any one woman or any one man can say the church can't do what Christ clearly said His Church can do? Either they have God's authority or not. Jesus even said that MOSES changed divorce laws because he had God's authority to do so (right before changing it back.) I don't understand Catholics all thinking they have the right to correct the Church when nothing God said either written or oral allowed for that. So, while I appreciate Mother Teresa and love her dearly, she doesn't have more weight in her assessment of taking the Eucharist than the Magisterium does. If we believe the church is wrong on an issue, shouldn't we just pray about it and perhaps speak to the Pope or bishops privately rather than publicly correcting them on how we can receive the host?

I believe Pope Benedict XVI's rationale for communion in the hand was that we sin as much with our mouth as we do with our hands. So the argument against would need to overcome that observation beyond a simple appeal to piety if it were to be persuasive.

I’ll have to listen to the whole episode but It seems contradictory to say that the church has the power of binding and loosing yet something that it permits is the gravest evil.

Fr Perricone is a dear friend and I attend classes w him at a local church. He is the real deal. The fist time he shared this story w me he had tears in his eyes. He has such personal reverence for our Lord and sharing this conversation w a saint had him emotional. His preaching is 2nd to none, too.

Did the Apostles all line up, kneel down, and receive the Eucharist the first time on the tongue?

She is 100% correct.

Worse than abortion? How could you keep a straight face? What a joke

She also said: “I love all religions. ... If people become better Hindus, better Muslims, better Buddhists by our acts of love, then there is something else growing there." She upheld that "All is God - Buddists, Hindus, Christians, etc., all have access to the same God."

This was a fantastic interview. Well done Matt. You have been working hard on these and it shows. Long time listener. Don’t burn yourself out.

What’s with the weird trad side gig? Most of Matt’s content is fairly good apologetics of Catholicism. And then sometimes he has these moments of utterly retarded borderline-sede garbage. “The greatest evil” is a practice happening in most parishes and completely permitted?

No. How is receiving on the tongue more respectful? However, what people do after they have received in the hand can definitely be seen as disrespectful, so her point is well taken. Reverence is the key here!

Note to self, mute Matt Fradd and this priest. Stupid lies and stupid enabling

Chills.

Can't you just tell this guy is lying through is teeth? Mother Teresa dedicated her life to fighting poverty, used even her Nobel Prize speech to speak up against the 73 million abortions a year; but secretly, she's only concerned with this vain clown's pet peeve? Sure, buddy...

The sister's directly deny this and there's pictures enough of mother Teresa giving communion herself and receiving communion in the hand. Not to mention all the other ecumenical BS she engaged in.

I have trouble believing that is true. Come on. Worst evil? Worst? Evil?

Funny that I was just listening to the episode when a Catholic friend (who operates a Divine Mercy mission) sent me the clip and said that St Mother Theresa never said it in any of her writings, speeches or interviews. If she really believed it was the gravest sin, I believe she would have said it to more than one person, making it known to all of us. She had tremendous reverence for the Eucharist, as we all should. I’m not suggesting Fr Perricone is lying, but I don’t believe it as stated.

The more I hear this priest, the more I mistrust him.

She has a point for sure.

I heard she trafficed children

Wow mother Theresa is dead ass wrong if she really said that. Shows that anyone can be a saint

Well yes others havd said this. Fr Reehil, many others. Mass at the Vatican does not do it. Somehow we have to go back!

Outlaw White abortions. The rest, go nuts. I only say that because 'the rest' are in my country, outgrowing White people. They can leave, and live in their homeland. White people cannot.

No question.
