It's true. Carney/Ex British Banker, hasn't said specifically why he walked, but rather, he ran off to Europe. Plus, the Revolutionary War between the British Loyalists who went to Canada after the war & the Free Americans who stayed, never really ended either.

Central banks were always a point of contention with our early government—fear of control & power. 1st two banks had a temporary charter of 20 years. America did not have a central bank from 1836-1913. We had tariffs. In 1913, the fed bank was permanently established. 🤨

The answer will shock you.” They did a poll and most British people thought Britain would rank around 7th richest. They were way off. In terms of GDP per capita, even Mississippi, often seen as America’s poorest state, is richer. That would make Britain the poorest state in America on that ranking. The funny part is how confident people were that Britain would rank much higher. When the interviewees were asked why Britain feels poor, the answered; lack of opportunity, high taxes, rising cost of living, and wages not matching their American counterparts. Who knew Britain was this poor?
