I respectfully disagree. Stroud was noticeably better in the second half (a low bar, admittedly). They settled for a field goal when they could’ve gone for it on 4th & short, had a running back fumble at the 17, kicked another field goal, traded a couple of punts, then ended w/ a garbage-time drive. I don’t believe inserting Mills brings you back any more than that. And once you make that move, you’re effectively signaling the beginning of the end of the CJ Stroud era in Houston. I can hear out the argument for making the switch midway through the second quarter before the final two turnovers — but that case only exists with the benefit of hindsight.

@BetMGM why would you put in Mills at halftime when he most likely isn't gonna win u the game anyway? killing team morale and creating locker room drama for a QB that you hope can bounceback. CJ wasn't good whatsoever but benching him would make everything worse terrible take

@BetMGM Did the steelers take Rogers out? Did the bills take josh allen out? Jared Geoff had 5 ints and 2 lost fumbles against the Texans last szn. They never took him out! Joe Flacco threw a pick 6 and another pick against the Texans last year in the wildcard. Didnt pull him. Pull 7?

@BetMGM I completely disagree with going to Davis Mills at all! Cj had no blocking from the O-Line and mills would have played much worse!

@BetMGM Mills went 3-0 as the starter but yall really forget how some of the games he played in went. Had like 60 yards of offense in the second half of the bills game. Started 0/10 in the second half of the colts game. Benching stroud was not the answer

@BetMGM The moment CJ became demoralized and essentially gave up after the 3rd pick, they should have benched him. Mills dug us out of an 0-3 slump and helped us recover this year. A year that relied solely on the defense anyway.

@BetMGM You nailed bud. I believe Coach Ryans put CJ’s feelings ahead of the team’s success. You can bet your ass that coach O’Brien would have benched CJ before the second half even started.

That would not have made a difference at all. They had no skill players. The TE left after a 40+ yard DraftKings cover and faked a calf strain. He was making bad decisions under pressure, and the turnovers were happening under pressure. It was bad offensive play all around. When it was 16-21, the running back fumbled the ball on a handoff in the red zone. One of CJ's interceptions went right through a WR's hands. CJ did have two ints that were just straight-up bad passes, though, and that was a bad offensive team performance. One of the interceptions came when he was pressured, and the hot WR literally tripped over his own feet. They had no skill players on the field.

@BetMGM Teams & players need to grow up, they should of benched him like they’d bench any other player. If rb fumbles 3 times in a game he gets benched, Wr too many drops they don’t look his way. Cj is the franchise guy but he should be able to handle & understand why he got benched

@BetMGM We’ve built bubbles around the QB position. They get special treatment. If any other position was playing that poorly they would have seen the bench. Next guy up! But oh no, can’t do that to a franchise QB. Al Davis would have sat him down in the 1st quarter!
