In the last hour, a judge has rejected a legal bid to remove the Palestinian flag that has been erected on Belfast City Hall. A case was brought forward by unionists after what they said were issues with the Palestinian flag and the process at Belfast City Council. Councillor Murphy said that showing solidarity with the Palestinian people should be a priority. He says he disagrees with attempts from some to paint Belfast City Council as dysfunctional.

As the Christmas Markets open, there is a small police presence in the streets nearby. Sinn Féin say the move shows solidarity with the people of Gaza, but the DUP have described the process as “scandalous.” An Alliance Party amendment that proposed illuminating the City Hall in the colours of Palestine in January instead of raising the flag was earlier defeated by 49 votes to 11. There was a protest outside the rear of City Hall last night as councillors left the meeting. A legal challenge will now be heard at Belfast High Court this morning, as confirmed by the TUV.

BIG WIN Town officials in Webster, NY, REMOVED the Pride flag flying at Town Hall after the city council passed a resolution to only fly official flags on city property. Protesters BOOED as the flag was lowered, and one woman tried blocking the officials while holding a trans flag. Only the American Flag and official state/federal flags should be flying from government property!
