Subungual melanomas are usually brown/black lines under nail NOT white. This doesn't look like one, they're not caused by UV or x-ray. White streaks on nails, leukonychia, are usu caused by nail bed trauma (he's a nailbiter!), fungal infection, allergy, autoimmune or deficiencies
