Did you guys know FanGraphs doesn’t classify this as a high-leverage HR
35 Comments

OR THIS ONE LMAOOOOO I am absolutely begging you guys to never use this stat again

It was meaningless so yeah ?

This wasn't high leverage either

LMFAOOOOOO

This shows a better picture in my opinion

Also Judge’s numbers in high leverage are mostly irrelevant because he just gets pitched around or walked. His OBP in high leverage is .470 this year

Addison do we really need to explain to Yankees fans in the year 2025 that Aaron Judge is a low leverage merchant?

Had one against Seattle that was the game deciding HR in like the 7th or 8th that wasn’t considered high leverage

Yeah its medium leverage because there aren't any risp and theres only one out. Thats how this works. Was an important shot for sure but youre making the argument based on the outcome, not the initial situation

So the everyone else in the top 20 are also impacted by Fangraphs not considering those kinds of hits high leverage?

There’s also zero fucking chance that Drake Baldwin doesn’t belong on this list. He’s fucking 8-10 with 4 walks with the bases loaded this season. That’s the epitome of high leverage.

That’s dumb

It’s the at bats that are qualified as high leverage or not before the outcome comes into play. Like this home run is clutch, but digging into the box, this is an at bat where like only a home run can really help you much. That’s why it would be a lower leverage AT BAT.

It’s not a high leverage home run bc it’s not a high leverage situation because high leverage is judged based off of the “average” variance in WPA. A strikeout or single doesn’t have a massive WPA change in either situation. Leverage is judged by the situation not the outcome

Didn’t the Yankees lose that game though???

Couldn’t even lead a team to a division title.

That’s crazy except that would mean all the home runs and ABs that are this exaxt scenario are also factored in for everyone else who IS on that top high leverage guys list? So what’s your point

Why is this Guardians fan always antagonizing the Yankees and then when he rightfully gets called out he’ll turn around and call Yankee fans trash

can someone please tell me what does classify as a high leverage at bat

Real question why doesn’t it classify these homers as high leverage

Everybody is expert on how flawed WAR is but have nothing to say about high flawed some of these stats are lol

Yeah, that’s why it wasn’t included on the list

... then even what is high leverage according to the stat??

What DOES count?!

Then wtf is high leverage?

Irrelevant, this wouldn’t count for cal either

whats a high-leverage HR

How much are you going to be crying when he loses MVP to a catcher?

That’s why all that fake shit is just that…fake shit.

And are they counting every time he gets walked in high leverage situations

flawed system

The best clutch measurement imo is measuring stats in the “late and close” category

Cause dude disappears during high leverage situations

wait how on earth is high leverage defined then?

Ya that’ll change the whole list, right?
