Did you know that the song Mandy, Barry Manilow's break out hit single, wasn't originally called Mandy? This was the original recording in 1971. Manilow actually covered it as it was initially recorded - as a more up-tempo version like the original. Clive Davis, head of Arista Records didn't like the version. They had already made the name change from Brandy to Mandy to try to eliminate the confusion with another released song called Brandy, (You're a fine Girl), by Looking Glass and so they continue to hope to make the song into a hit. Manilow took the song back to the piano, slowed the song into a ballad. The rest as they say is history. It then became the song that launched him into stardom!

Because it came on a floppy disk format, it allowed players to SAVE their progress — a groundbreaking feature at the time. Later on, it was re-released in NES and Famicom cartridge form, and that’s probably the version most gamers experienced first. The floppy disk version of Zelda is originally yellow, but I swapped the shell using a gold cartridge from another game and made myself a golden Zelda floppy disk. Pretty cool, right?

I was in a very dark place in life, and I made the song about themes of loss, loneliness/isolation, and reaching for hope. When the story of Aemeath was revealed, I was surprised by how closely the emotions in the lyrics aligned with her journey. Some of you may not know but Majin Buu in the original broadcast English Dub had a voice filter and I absolutely love it to this day it’s the best version of the voice. In the remastered sets they removed the filter for some odd reason in Kai they made a attempt to bring it back however it lacked the same punch as the original which do you prefer?

“All I Do” is my favorite Stevie Wonder song on many days. He wrote it when he was 16 for Tammi Terrell. She recorded it but Motown didn’t release it. He put it on Hotter Than July with updated instrumentation. Motown released the original in 2002 and… it’s the better version.
