Did you know ‘WHIPLASH’ started as a short film? Damien Chazelle couldn’t secure funding for a feature film. He made an 18 minute proof of concept, submitted it to Sundance Film Featival in 2013. It won Short Film Award and funding followed soon after.

Damien Chazelle’s 'Whiplash' won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival on this day in 2014. Chazelle wrote the story drawing directly from his own experience as a young jazz drummer. When he couldn’t secure financing for the feature, he turned one pivotal scene into an 18-minute short as proof of concept. That short premiered at Sundance in 2013 and convinced the industry the film had power. The feature followed a year later, premiering at Sundance 2014. Shot on a tight schedule and modest budget, 'Whiplash' thrived on precision, with rapid editing, aggressive sound design, and two incredible performances led by J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller.

Happy to finally release "ONE THOUSAND". A $ xxxxxxxx film (you fill in the blank in the comments after watching it! lol). This 9-minute personal short film took just over a month and a half to create, and it is for sure my favorite piece of work so far. (More details in the comments)

📽️ ELIZA'S SHADOW REALM Here is my new short film. It is made entirely with AI, and although it is not perfect, it still has some inconsistencies, it is a demonstration that with the tools available it is possible to create an animated short film that is almost professional and worthy of competing in a film festival. The script is made with ChatGPT, based on Coraline. The images in Midjourney, using the --sref and --cref parameters. Animations in Runway, music and sound effects in Pixabay, voiceover in , and editing in CapCut. 👉 I won't deny that it takes hours of work and requires dedication and artistic insight, but the important thing is that now anyone can create a short film from home. This short film also works very well as an audiobook. If you have children, I encourage you to show it to them. I think they will enjoy it 🙂 #aiartcommunity #aivideo #aicinema #AIart

Our short film Dear Upstairs Neighbors is previewing at Sundance Film Festival. 🎬 It’s a story about noisy neighbors, but behind the scenes, it’s about solving a huge challenge in generative AI: control. Developed by Pixar alumni, an Academy Award winner, researchers, and engineers, here’s how it came together. 🎨
