i think it's weird that evolution taught animals to chew a perfect weak spot into trees, even how to avoid being crushed, long enough to pass these traits on. evolution is full of stories like that. like the bombardier beetle. i know you can't pass stuff like this on if you're dead, but somehow evolution made a way.
