I've never tried to do a frozen water dunk; but I've had to stand in ~40 degree F water before (maybe a bit colder -- I do not recall really), but it wasn't the cold that bothered me- it was the pain. In seconds, you feel increasing pins/stabs that burn. Unbearable. It hurts.
