Diddy Kong Racing (1997) 🎈

greatest single player mode in a kart racer.

This is one of the first video games I ever owned and still one of my all-time favorites!

Very fun game. I invested a lot of hours into it when I was a kid. I believe I only needed to beat T.T. in 3 more time trials to unlock it as a playable character, but I just couldn't get it done.

I learned about green boost while racing against this guy but without knowing that, was this shit fucking impossible?!? I think I was using Tiptup at the time I could not get close as a kid without the tech.

It’s crazy how you almost played this race perfectly and still barely won. Says a lot about what we were put through as kids.

Diddy Kong Racing gets remembered for the adventure mode, but the plane controls were the real innovation. Did the hovercraft sections ever feel as tight to you, or were they the weak link?

An excellent game, especially for playing the 4v4 minigames like Mario Kart.
