It is probably a female that had a nest close by - you are in it´s territory, and it is trying you to drive you away from the nest because it considered you a possible threat.

Yeah seen that a lot with them before, but this was different, it followed me several km and didn't go back at all. And it was feeding everytime I dug up life underneath the sand. And it never went back to where I first encountered it.
