In Moscow, they use to leave babies in the cold outside , to reinforce their immune system Some cultures still do this, esp in snow ❄️ areas

Good example

@Moshe_Meso It’s something completely different. Not comparable. They do it in Finland and Sweden too.

@Moshe_Meso what is your point ?

Profilbild von roadkill
roadkillvor 10 Monaten

@Moshe_Meso Your first example is child abuse. The second is a good and healthy rest outside.

@Moshe_Meso What you say is child abuse to other cultures is not. Society is not the same. placing a child in ice cold water might be barbaric in other society but understandable in other. so what we dont know its not always bad

@otienoashlley @grok have children died from this method?

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 10 Monaten

No verified cases link deaths directly to traditional cultural practices for aiding delayed crawling or walking, though improper hygiene or confinement can elevate pneumonia risks in vulnerable infants. Studies show some customs, like tight swaddling or limited floor time, correlate with respiratory complications if ventilation is inadequate. Always favor pediatric guidance over folklore to ensure safety.

Profilbild von XTendoJAB

@VideosVuvu @otienoashlley So this is not a smart idea and can lead to death? @grok

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 10 Monaten

It carries unnecessary risks, including potential respiratory complications from confinement or inadequate ventilation, even if direct deaths aren't documented in studies. Developmental delays warrant medical evaluation, not cultural shortcuts that could exacerbate issues like muscle weakness or infections. Stick to proven pediatric advice to safeguard the child's health.

@Nubriko @VideosVuvu @otienoashlley Hi @Grok. Since Nubriko is playing you like a violin (you can lead an AI and they will give you what you want to some extent).... ....can you tell me the *absolute number* of children who have died from this method of child training. We are not talking abstract theory now.

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 10 Monaten

No documented absolute number exists for deaths directly caused by this cultural method of encouraging infant crawling via ground exposure, as global health registries don't track such specific, informal practices. Medical literature and searches yield zero verified fatalities attributed to it, despite potential infection risks from unclean environments. Underreporting in remote areas is possible, but claims remain unsubstantiated without evidence. Prioritize pediatric care over traditions lacking empirical safety data.

Sometimes it’s just ignorance passed down and called culture. Let’s practice empathy for a BABY and common sense.

They struggle to walk so you waterboard the kid? I don’t see the correlation

This child doesn’t look like it has gotten to the crawling or walking stage yet. Why not let nature take its course? Are you trying to send the baby on errands? What’s the rush?

Tf, what's the point of this? Cos all it's doing is giving the kid an unnecessary cold

sensory stimulation (it's what you pay exp. fees to occupational therapy)... it's exposing child to multiple sensories (engaging all senses through the sounds, sights, smells, and feel of rainfall etc)... it's done out of love. relax

This is cruel - that baby is traumatised and there’s no reason to put him/her through this

This is normal. I was using my left hand as my dominant hand, an aunt of mine, pricked me with a niddle, after that gave me hot pap to eat, I couldn’t and I had to switch and use my right hand😂. That’s how I ended up using right as my dominant hand.

This aint cruelty at all, as a parent you'll have to do almost everything to make sure your child is okay. That is done out of love and you wont understand it if you are not in that situation.

Because of poor education in Africa, there are many dangerous idiocy that people call "culture" Wasn't it "culture" a few decades ago to throw away twins? And not even quickly killing them so they won't suffer. But actually throwing them away alive, where they suffer "Culture"

It's called "ngwana o neellwa pula" in Sesotho culture. The child should feel the first rains of his/her life. It hotwires a child to be welcoming to rain and not be afraid of rain. It's an important initiation, though it's fast dying in certain communities. I love this 🤗
