The Most Dangerous Phrase in Midlife Fitness: “I Used To…” “I used to run faster.” “I used to lift heavier.” “I used to train every day.” I hear this constantly. In the office. In the gym. From people who still care deeply about being capable… yet are often injured. I always ask patients what sports they play. Not uncommonly, they’ll answer football or basketball. I’ll ask when they last did it… the answer is universally— in college or high school. Then a spark woke them up, and they tried to get back to the things they did 20-30 years ago. While that’s not impossible, it requires a far different approach. The problem isn’t remembering the past. It’s training as if the past is the standard you still have to meet. When training is anchored to past ability, the focus shifts away from adaptation and toward proving something. Over time, that almost always leads to frustration, injury, disengagement, and a visit to my office. Midlife isn’t about reclaiming an earlier version of yourself. That version lived in a different body, with different recovery capacity, different stress, and different biology. What you have now is a different body. Not a broken one. Not an inferior one. Just different. But one that is still able to adapt and achieve. The people who age well in sport and in life understand this sooner rather than later. They stop chasing intenisty volume for its own sake. They become more selective about intensity and focus on consistency. They leave room for recovery. They care less about what a workout looks like and more about what it allows them to do tomorrow. They aren’t lowering standards. They’re changing the rules… they’re adapting. For the longest time, I didn’t do this. I was working out in my late 50s as I did in my 20s… and I was often hurt or aching enough that the next day was a bust. The question stops being, “Can I still do what I used to do?” It becomes, “What do I need to do now to stay strong, capable, and independent ten years from today?” That shift isn’t quitting. It’s about choosing healthspan… and adapting to what the passage of time demands. —Howard

There's a whole laundry list of proofs that I find independently convincing, but if I had to pick just one single argument to hang my hat on for why I believe the Earth is flat and stationary, it is the STARS & PLANETS, and their paths in the sky from Earth's POV. How do you explain in the heliocentric model, how every star traces perfect circles around the North Star, and every PLANET traces perfect sacred geometrical patterns around the North Star as well? According to the heliocentric model of the solar system (1st video) all of these spinning ball planets in the Milky Way are orbiting the SUN, at different speeds and path circumferences, at distance ranges from 36 million to 2.8 billion miles away from us. The North Star, NASA tells us, is 2.5 QUADRILLION miles away. Now tell me how all of these independent Sun-orbiting planets would trace PERFECT patterns around the North Star for 6,000+ years of recorded history? Venus literally creates a PERFECT flower of life pattern, which we see appear in nature here on Earth as well. Get the f*ck out of here if you think that's just a fluke cosmic accident. Not to mention, EVERY SINGLE CONSTELLATION has remained the exact same in our sky for 6,000 years? Not a single one has appeared or disappeared, while the universe is supposedly expanding at countless millions of miles per hour? Remember, these are all of Earth's movement vectors we are supposedly experiencing as we soar through the infinitely-expanding void of space 👇 🫨 1,000 MPH spinning around Earth's axis 🫨 66,600 MPH flying around Sun 🫨 500,000 MPH flying through the galaxy 🫨 1,300,000 MPH entire galaxy flying through space 🫨 All while the entire universe is EXPANDING, speeding all of these vectors up and warping the directions in different/random ways 🫨 ALL OF THE STARS we see are flying in different directions too, at their own incomprehensible speeds And yet, the stars we see in the night sky have never changed. Ever. I'm sorry but the "it's parallax" response from the globers doesn't cut it for me - that sounds like a glaring example of starting with a pre-determined conclusion in mind, and making anything up in the middle in order to get to that conclusion. (I WILL GRANT HOWEVER, that at least the parallax effect is something we can visibly see and experience on the micro level—unlike "gravity"—so I will concede that it obviously exists. I just don't believe that it explains all of the above motions, distances, and perfection of consistency in the patterns created by the cosmology we observe). Every ounce of my common sense-trusting brain tells me that all of these insanely huge numbers are just brain-numbing nonsense to obfuscate away from the far-simpler truth: that NONE of these incomprehensible speeds/distances are even happening at all, and rather, the Earth is flat and stationary, and these unchanging constellations and planetary movements are indeed revolving around US. The North Star (Polaris) lies directly above the North Pole, and does not move. The stars and planets rotate around the North Star, above Earth. Just as it looks and feels. I dove into way more nuance on all of these concepts in the first 3 Parts of the 5-Part Flat Earth video series I made for my podcast, which I will link below. WATCH THOSE VIDEOS. And as always, if you have refuting points to share, please drop them in the comments below so we can discuss! #FlatEarth

🚨New: Sir Alex Ferguson on the Messi, Pele, Maradona and Ronaldo GOAT debate: • Interviewer: Sir Alex, the debate never ends — Messi, Pelé, Maradona, Ronaldo. Who is the greatest of all time for you? 🗣️Ferguson: “I’ve been asked this question more times than I can count over the years, and for a long time I refused to give a straight answer because the debate was still open. It isn’t open anymore. Messi’s World Cup in 2022 was the final piece. Before that tournament he already had everything else, the Champions Leagues, the league titles in different countries, the Ballons d’Or, the individual brilliance that no one could match. The only thing missing was the World Cup. He went and got it. When a player completes the full set like that, the conversation changes. He has now completed football. Every major trophy, every individual award, every level of the game. That closes the debate for me. Because of that completion, Messi sits clearly above Pele, Maradona and Ronaldo. I’m not saying the other three weren’t great. Of course they were. But the ledger is now complete for Messi in a way it never was for the others, and that has to count. Now, people will jump on the fact that Cristiano was my player. He was. He is still my boy in many ways. I have huge affection and respect for him, the hunger, the work rate, the way he rebuilt himself season after season. That part is emotional for me. But the ranking itself is no longer emotional. It’s factual. You separate the personal from the professional when the evidence is this clear. Let’s be honest about what Cristiano is. He is the more adaptable, all-round player. Different leagues, different systems, different styles of play. He could score with either foot, with his head, from distance, from six yards. He could lead a dressing room, he could carry a team on pure willpower, and he stayed at the highest level for an absurd length of time. No serious person denies any of that. Physical dominance, leadership, versatility — he has those qualities in abundance. But adaptable is not the same as greatest. In pure footballing terms — the genius of the first touch, the vision, the consistency at the absolute peak for over a decade, and now the complete trophy case — Messi is on another level. Ronaldo is not close in that specific sense. One is an extraordinary athlete and competitor who maximised every ounce of his talent. The other is simply a better footballer. That’s the distinction. Pele and Maradona were gods of their eras, no question. But the modern game is harder, deeper, and more athletic. The athletic demands, the tactical organisation, the quality of opposition week after week, it’s a different beast. Messi dominated a far stronger era for longer than either of them managed. That has to be recognised. I’m not sentimental about this. Sentiment is for fans and for the media. When you strip it back to what actually happened on the pitch and in the trophy cabinet, the answer is clear. Cristiano is an extraordinary athlete and competitor. Messi is just a better footballer. You can love Ronaldo more. You can respect him more. You can prefer his story, his personality, his work ethic. All of that is fair. What you cannot do is put him above Messi anymore. The ledger is closed.” Cristiano is an all-time great. Messi is the greatest. That’s just how it is now.”
