@gunga_utdr Maile Flanagan has been Naruto Uzumaki for like 2 decades with no problems.

@gunga_utdr I 100% agree with this take. A VA's skin color should have no bearing on the voice roles they take. My only problem is that this standard seems...inconsistent at times.

gotten more likes than the person i qrt'd, officially #ratioed

anyways go follow me i make random bullshit

@gunga_utdr @averagemixedgrl I’m still upset they basically deleted Apu instead of getting either getting a new actor for Apu or have Hank keep doing it, they just deleted him

@gunga_utdr Everytime I see him, I remember...

@gunga_utdr out of all people you use this guy

Say what you want about max himself but this clip is like the best way to explain it

@gunga_utdr @iamtoaster_ What’s wrong with max idk the lore

@naturehunk @gunga_utdr @iamtoaster_ He comes from Newgrounds so history of edgy/offensive jokes, that's pretty much it. He hasn't said anything worse than, let's say, Zach Hadel, but unlike him he did not create the biggest adult cartoon of the decade so he's an easier target.

@VillainDaFriend @naturehunk @gunga_utdr blah blah blah blah

@neutralenby @VillainDaFriend @naturehunk @gunga_utdr Making dw fans look bad for no reason wth bro

@neutralenby @VillainDaFriend @naturehunk @gunga_utdr this is just the tip of the iceberg

@gunga_utdr While I generally agree with Max’s sentiment here, I don’t think he’s correct to say that ethnicity/skin color has no bearing. I think it’s highly role dependent. I do think that there are va roles where you would want someone to match the ethnicity of they’re character.

@gunga_utdr Only exceptions to this I think are characters who’s identities are tied to their character. Like you probably shouldn’t get a white woman to play as Harriet Tubman in an animated film or whatever

@gunga_utdr calling him a nazi when the steven jewniverse shit was like 10 years ago

@gunga_utdr Unrelated, but I just find it funny that when casting a VA for Lincoln, the director would probably opt for a deep powerful voice, when Lincoln is believed to have had a higher almost falsetto voice. So in the end the VA might have NOTHING in common with Lincoln but still fit.

@gunga_utdr i do feel authentic casting has its place as well some projects where a person of a certain culture is needed to represent it like anyone being able to be cast anyone authentic casting are not mutually exclusive

@gunga_utdr I do voice acting sometimes and one of my first roles was an animation my friend did where I played a Japanese guy and I'm a white guy from England. Race doesn't mean anything when you're just voice acting because you only hear the voice. You don't need to see their faces

@gunga_utdr Never thought I would see right wingers partake in the "should characters only be voiced by actors of their ethnicity?" argument on the *yes* side of the argument, that could be an opinion they would consider woke

@gunga_utdr GOOD ANSWER MAX

@gunga_utdr Max G is the fucking goat, i love that guy so much

@gunga_utdr this is one of those things that stem from us having too much free time and peace. it's a voice for a cartoon. it's never been that deep, but people will make it deep

@gunga_utdr

@gunga_utdr People weren't mad over Apu just because the voice actor was white - people were mad because the character spawned an entire generation of stereotypes that they had to feel the real world repercussions of. Apu would've had the same issues even if he was voiced by an Indian guy.

@gunga_utdr Isn't this guy a Nazi tho? Pretty sure he also mocked Jewish people in some video called Steven Jewniverse, too.

@gunga_utdr Explain that to him

@gunga_utdr Dont wanna be that guy but look how he complains about the English VA and not the JP VA, both being grown adults of diferente "race" to what's supposed to be a robot.

@gunga_utdr Funny how he used this to justify white people getting roles subbing marginalized vas given youre using it to justify the opposite lol. Ultimately I TENTATIVELY agree that yes voice acting as a career holds no bearing on how an actor looks but it is a little more complicated than

@gunga_utdr Say what you want about how bad hotdiddydemon as a person is, he still made a VERY valid point

@gunga_utdr I disagree cause i want blacks to have less jobs, especially ones where they sopose to "represent" a white person.

@gunga_utdr The response to this is so weird. Either ethnicity matters, or it doesn’t. Either it has some bearing on what a person is allowed to do, or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, why should I give a fuck who plays what character?

@gunga_utdr Brain peak is one of my favorite internet education series

@gunga_utdr Can you guys just paraphrase this video next time I don't want "Z0MG HOTDIGGEDYDEMON IN 2026??????" on my timeline again

@gunga_utdr Mf they don't care about voice actors job opportunities or who's actually best for the role. They're fucking racist

@gunga_utdr I don't care about Culture, Race or What your political beliefs are. I just care if you can do your job and if you are able to do it right.

@gunga_utdr You know, if a black guy wanted to voice act a japanese character then at least learn the cultures of such, you don't have to preach the culture; hell, you are allowed to hate them. but just knowing and recognizing it goes along way than being uninformed and misrepresenting them.

@gunga_utdr This doesn’t even have the same issues with white people playing POC, being possible mockery and taking jobs, they’re just getting hung up on “well, in real life the voice actor doesn’t look like the character”. Completely pointless.

@gunga_utdr Literally, it doesnt matter your skintone, just your voice and talent

@gunga_utdr @zane338 When the worst person u know says something completely correct type shit

@gunga_utdr I CURSE YOU "THE PROBLEM WITH APU"

@gunga_utdr is this really something that needs to be said, it's just racism and nobody cares about losers who focus on it in VOICE acting. let them talk in their echo chambers while we all have fun
