It is being reported that Keir Starmer has u-turned on compulsory digital ID. Yet the Labour government has admitted that digital ID is not being abandoned. Instead, they are watering down the word “compulsory” while still continuing to develop the framework and machinery for digital ID. It feels like the Labour government are trying to take the heat out of the huge opposition to digital ID and instead, nudge it forward and engineer digital ID under the radar. 🚨: I went to the EU Parliament and EXPOSED Digital ID - this fight is far from over. The public were told Britain had scrapped Digital ID -THEY LIED. Today the government is launching consultations and new plans for a national digital identity system to access services online. So the reality is simple. They stopped trying to force it through the front door. Now it’s being built quietly through the back door. Back door to Digital ID? Some are asking if the under-16s social media ban is a backdoor to Digital ID? As far as Kemi and the Conservatives are concerned, absolutely not. We are entirely opposed to digital ID and want to see the ban implemented in a way that doesn’t force mandatory digital ID onto anyone. Proving your age for social media should be no more intrusive than it is for buying alcohol.
