Do people who come up with these stupid conspiracy theories not realize how much it would cost to implement a system of this scale? Just to increase the price of donuts a few cents? Dumb.

It's not even a camera. It's a fucking LED that flashes if you have an item and need to find where it is. Oml 😭✌️

The dot is an LED light that the employees can make flash, to aid in locating the item quickly. People are so retarded.

Those are lights, and they are for easily finding items. If you search for the item the light blinks via a connection to the Kroger app or in store spa app. The tags update/change Twice a week Once on Monday morning at 3am once on Wednesday morning at 3 am. Unless it's emergency notice changes they don't change anymore until the following week. Every 2 weeks is a major ad change . Source me I am a file maintenance lead and I deal with the tags every day.

Please also explain how they make sure the price is ajusted when you reach the cashier ? let me guess, they have a camera at the cashier that remembers how much it is for each customer and an AI data center calculating everything. Imagine how much that would cost...

No. How will they apply variable unit pricing, per person, at checkout? If I grab a product and it says $3, and you grab the same one and it says $4, but on our way to the checkout line we swap products with each other, how would they ring up? Is mine still $3? $4??

The only people who believe this are those who have no idea how technology (or retail) works. Do you have the first idea of the cost of implementing something like this? Let alone getting the logistics and integration right. Good grief.

so tired of these ... if the price changes per person, how would the register know how much to ring up? I know ... I know, more cameras. In reality, these digital price tags are just a way more convenient way to update the prices when they restock .. prices go up from the manufacturers or if they want to put things on sale, it's much easier to plug it into a database than change all those stickers on the shelves.

Okay but even if you change the price how would the cashier know to charge you that price? You aren’t changing the sku lol

I looked at the back and identified one of the digital labels.. this is what ai says: The item in your hand is a Hanshow Nebular Pro-266Q-N Electronic Shelf Label (ESL). It is a digital price tag used by retail stores to display product names and prices using low-power electronic ink (e-paper) technology.Hardware CapabilitiesDisplay: 4-color e-ink screen (Black, White, Red, and Yellow).Connectivity: Built-in Bluetooth / 2.4 GHz wireless receiver to update pricing data remotely.Sensors & Extras: An NFC chip for quick pairing and a multi-color LED light used to help staff locate items on the None. It has no lenses, image sensors, or optical capabilities.

This doesn't even make sense. So I could be standing next to my neighbor & watching peanut butter price rise & fall based on who the camera is focused on? What if he picks up the jar and puts it in my basket for me? You've been a good follow, let's not devolve into click bait.

Thats a motion sensor, why have the screen on when nobody is nearby?

AwsmMary 的头像

that makes no sense because the price is attached to the tag. So when she takes the product to the register, that price doesnt stick to the product. How can they make that price attach to the product individually? Such dumb logic. Sorry.

BS There are no cameras in it. They are updated periodically. This saves employees from having to manually replace all price tags one by one. It also prevents arguments with Karens over what the correct price is.

LOL so you think there is a unique price for every customer in the store that follows them all the way to checkout?

That’s not a camera! It’s an IR receiver that receives info from IR blasters scattered around the store. Running a camera and processing all that info would simply take too much battery and processing power than what’s available in that tiny device

The black dot is actually an IR sensor to receive the updates from a central command box. The prices are updated by cascading IR light. They are extremely low power devices and do not have cameras in them lol.

These are IR sensors and lights, I worked at a hardware store with these and they link to the inventory system. An employee can flash the light from a store PDA to be able to find where a product should go when stocking the shelves. Not everything is a conspiracy.

That's not a camera... i work for spark delivery. I shop as an i dependent contractor. On my spark app I can make that light flash so I can easily find the item. Not a camera. Miss information

Those are lights, not cameras. Those help associates locate items that are having difficulties locate them when they’re shopping for customers through the store. Yall fucking retarded.

Am I missing something here? I feel it’s pretty impossible that that’s a camera. These aren’t connected to any external power source. They set the price and that’s it. These use built-in E Ink displays. Has anyone actually looked into this, or is this just a case where somebody saw a video and assumed something?

Explain to me how the price there that supposedly dynamically changes based upon who's standing there, be able to track you, and then that price that it showed you minutes or hours before, now is charged to you at the register? 🤔

It's a shame how people fall for this stuff without doing any of their own research. Perhaps one day, but for today? No, no cameras.

NOT a camera..it's a little light for the employees that pick groceries for those to who just come in and pick up their grocery order. Good lord people.

aka, 的头像

Not a camera or inventory assessor… it’s a small LED light that lights up and also some emit a beeping sound to help people with picking online orders through the store itself.

how does it work at the checkout till? The barcode is pre programmed on a price. If the price changes for every other customer, Wouldn’t the price be different at the checkout counter as it was when the price was seen at the shelf?

Man business barely wana spend money on fixing their buildings you think they’re gonna invest millions into tiny small cameras strong enough to recognize facial expressions in every fucking price tag? 😭

Uzumaki 的头像

My job has these. The black dot is a reader. there’s devices on the ceiling that tell the tags what price to be. They can automatically update sale prices if they change. This video is click bait. However the cameras that are literally everywhere actually can store data.

I used to work at Dillons and every Tuesday night they would change out the price tags because there were weekly sales They probably switched to digital tags, so it would be easier to change the prices rather than rip off every tag and replace that's my theory

😂😂😂. Totally incorrect. I promise. It is all about labor savings in an industry that only makes 1% profit. People are brainwashed into thinking grocery stores make big money. They dont (upstream is where money is made)
