Dillon Brooks has recently found a new technique to effectively contest jump shooters: High fiving. If you make contact with the shooter's hand after the ball's release, it's considered legal, and understanding that has enabled Brooks to be a lot more aggressive without fouling.

It is fascinating to me how Dillon Brooks is always ahead of the curve when it comes to contesting jump shooters. Whether it's this, or the contests with both hands, I never understand why is he the only one who takes these extra measures. Does he have a personal defense coach?

Like, why is Jalen not also trying to contest like this? FVV? Cam? It doesn't seem like something only Dillon could do. Idk

You just helped 29 NBA Scouts from the comfort of their sofa haha

Lol, that's great as long as they don't forget who noticed

I’m interested to see how often he fouls jump shooters. It may be legal, but the optics of making clear contact with a defender and not only altering his release but his body posture would sure bait a ref into blowing the whistle, instinctively

That's fair. He was called for a foul a couple of days ago for doing this, but I don't remember any other recent examples

My brain can’t fathom how this isn’t considered a foul

He’s talked about it before, but it’s interesting to see a guy put thought into new moves defensively

contesting jumpshots is really one of his biggest assets

Better than that hand clap he does in the air 😂
