She rejected the role when it was first offered to her. Another actress was cast in her place, but her partner at that time, convinced her to take the role. I believe we are all forever indebted to him. This performance is as good as or slightly better than her performance in "Possession" (1981). I can't see any other actress [I am sorry, Margaret Qualley!] performing either of the roles. Another aspect that enhances Adjani's performance in "One Deadly Summer" (1983) is the costumes.
