I just recently saw this movie for the first time. Very compelling. A lot of influence you can directly see in “1917.” (And a reminder that Kubrick loved him a long hallway shot, even if the hallway was, in this case, a trench.) AK

Superb movie. Thoughtful as it is brutal. One of Kubrick's best.

Paths of Glory 🎩🫡 Contains many lessons for cinema.

Masterpiece.

This is a masterpiece. It has a different feel than anything else from that decade. At least from the films I’ve seen.

The last scene of this film in the bar when the waitress sings to the soldiers is so beautiful. One of the all time greatest scenes.

You heard it from Joe in writing.

The most powerful anti war movie ever made, "Paths of Glory".

Paths of Glory, best over the top scene ever filmed. Script was written by the Dimestore Doestevsky, Jim Thompson, the writer of The Grifters, The Killer Inside Me, The Getaway etc etc. Old Kubrick was fond of ripping him off with the credit.

War is hell. Those criminals sending our children into it should be there

I'm sorry...

Classic. Also love Breaker Morant. Not really a remake, but a similar story in a different war.

Hell can be cinematic.

The film was shot and premiered in Bavaria. The German title is "Wege zum Ruhm" (Paths of Glory).

When I was a kid a I never understood why tactics barely changed during WW1. Then when I joined the army it made a lot more sense when we were using the exact same tactics to clear wire obstacles they used in WW2.

I consider this Kubrick's best film and Kirk Douglas's greatest role.

Masterpiece.

Winston Churchill watched a lot of war movies after his retirement from public life, and said Paths of Glory had the most accurate depiction of combat on the western front in WWI of any film.

My dad saw it at the cinema on its first release, and told me the volume was purposely cranked up to the max for this sequence. The artillery bombardment at the start of the attack was thus deafening. He said the audience were shellshocked themselves by this end of it.

One of the greatest movies ever made.....

Paths of Glory 👌

Echoed later in The Lost Battalion. Outstanding film, worth owning.

Unsurpassed as a film about war.

1950s and yet every bit as intense and real as anything produced recently.

So far ahead of its time. Cold and clinical direction makes the ending so much more devastating. This is an all time great film.

Allied generals were criminals; they threw away lives.....

Hard to watch those dudes get railroaded.

Killer scene, great movie.

The symmetry ❤️

Real men, heroes every one.

Trenches were dug in a trebouchet system, zig zag, so any direct hit would minimize casualties.

One of my absolutely favorite movies. Kubrick was a genius.

Top 3 Kubrick for me personally.

Super anti war movie Kubrick at his very best

@grok movie name?
