Albanese, Ley and Inman-Grant are trampling free speech, as the government attempts to lead the world in all of the wrong ways. Watching the so-called eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman-Grant - affectionately known online as eKaren - deliver her prepared lines to the National Press Club today was a difficult experience for me. Watching an overpaid and surplus-to-need government official try and sell the public on the virtue of more regulation of our online environment, was painful. Something- something- swim between the flags at the beach, blah-blah. Apparently eSafety is like beach flags. Beach flags, we are told, are a parental aide, and together lifeguards and parents keep children safe. Fair enough… at the beach. In the objective light of day, flags mark a safer and monitored swimming space. But at the beach, surfers and the more courageous can swim wherever they like. Not wherever the eSafety Commissioner chooses to plant flags. The flags don’t impede access to the beach, they just indicate the area that is monitored by trained professionals. So, out here in the digital world the under-16 age ban is it is not the same thing. Grant pulled a swifty. She may not know the intention behind this legislation – I suspect she does - but it is impossible to implement without invading the privacy of every Australian. Which is why she floundered around so badly during the journalists’ questions – refusing to say the quiet parts out loud. We could see that Julie Inman Grant. What wasn’t really said is that the only possible way for the government to implement and enforce this age ban is to force Digital ID on every Australian internet user. You must verify everyone, or you can’t verify anyone. The loss of anonymity online should raise major red flags. There are plenty of reasons not to centralise the population’s private credentials. One example is identity theft - particularly via a high-trust tool like a government issued digital ID. A genuine threat, and if Inman Grant is any indication of the level of technical talent in Government, I would run a mile from the whole idea. But I think the intention is sinister, very sinister. This is the very first step in shutting down free speech online. Quelling dissent, and locking-in the big, ugly and powerful government. Free speech is the most important ingredient in a democracy. We must have open debate, no-holds-barred, no subject off limits – no idea too dangerous to be given voice. It is only through open dialogue and debate - the free flow of information - that we, the public, can expose our pain. It is the only way we can seek relief. It is core to creativity, innovation and progress. We must be free to contribute to the conversation, challenge and counter narratives, and seek the truth. Social media is a modern marvel; everyone is equal online. A voice, a contributor, a part of the news cycle. A place where the best and most well-articulated ideas often win! Instead of embracing this new and better way to plug-in and represent us, our modern MPs generally drop puff-pieces and run. They are so petrified of the conversation they want it shut down completely. They would love to go back to an era where the only available news was a curated handful of print, radio and television, with the odd current-affairs program here and there. Where commentators they chose had the debate on our behalf. Terrible. That model has collapsed now. It will never come back, no matter how hard they try. Aside from the fact that we can easily subvert eKaren’s walls and gates, we simply will not tolerate it. They will try none the less. Not because they care about us or the children, but because they know how bad things really are, and that their feckless, insane plans will make it all much worse. They know they are out of their depth and that they have no idea what they are doing, it is so obvious we can see that for ourselves. It was blatantly clear, for example, that eKaren was unable to answer basic questions about how this social media ban will be implemented at the National Press Club address today. The government wants it all shutdown because they don’t want the criticism, and they can’t handle the competition. In the most bizarre of circumstances, Grant couldn’t or didn’t want to answer a brilliant question from Olivia Island at the SMH/Age in relation to the Trump Administration’s push for free speech and the potential for retaliation on those who impinge on online speech. There is an admission in this, Grant knows she is trampling our speech. Disgusting. She should try this on in her home country of the USA. Not pretend it is somehow a moral good, because a group of immoral and incompetent Australian politicians passed this into law. Not pretend she is somehow protecting speech online because of “the vulnerable”. She knows better, and that’s why she deferred the question to her “DFAT colleagues.” We must fight this with all the speech we can muster. They are only the government, they are not God. They didn’t give us the ability to think, speak or act, and they can’t really take it away. So, let’s Fight. It is the only way to save Australia from a dark grey Orwellian future. Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness delivers a great speech in the parliamentary inheritance tax on family farms debate: It is possible to challenge one’s Government. I said to my Whips then that the best service we could do the Government was to prevent them from doing something stupid, harmful and alienating to voters. I hope that Government Members can see that, because the Opposition cannot change this. People outside say to me, “Can we get this changed?” It is actually up to Labour MPs. They have the majority. Democracy is not about having a majority and doing what one likes. Democracy is about listening and doing what the now Prime Minister told the NFU when he said: “You deserve a Government that listens, that heeds early warnings”. There are one or two warnings about. Listen, change: if the Government change, four years on, no one will remember the U-turn. Whatever civil servants say—they are always very keen to stick with a policy—if it is wrong, stop doing it. And this is wrong. In the minute and 20 seconds I have left, let me say why it is so wrong. We have touched on the various elements, but I am not sure we have pulled it all together. We have a really peculiar group of businesspeople in this country; they are called farmers. They take a return on capital—the millions they have invested in their farms—that is typically less than 1%. There is nobody that I am aware of—no business I was ever involved in—that would remotely consider continuing in an industry that paid less than 1%. These farmers take a pittance and get up at 4 o’clock in the morning for the privilege. They look after the animals and it does not matter if they are ill; they cannot carry their employment rights and go, “I’m not well, I shouldn’t have to go out,” because the cows do not care: they have to go out and look after them, and then they get less than 1% return. Those farmers, the most beneficent public-minded businesspeople in the whole country, then provide excellent food at among the lowest prices in Europe. If ever there were a business that we would not want to go and mess with, it is these—I should not say it, because I will make enemies of them. We must understand how remarkable it is that there is a whole group of businesspeople who take practically nothing from their business, work all the hours God gives, and provide us with some of the finest food in the world at among the lowest prices in Europe. Why would we want to mess with that? Not only do they do that, but they brainwash their children from the earliest age so that they carry on doing it. These people are in indentured service to the nation, providing food while making very little profit. They do it willingly and, in fact, love it: it is their life. To go and mess with them out of some stupid, socialist spite is ridiculous and absurd, and Government Members know that—the hon. Member for North Northumberland certainly does, and he should lead his colleagues to tell the Chancellor to change course, just as we did in 2012 when George Osborne got it wrong.”

Tomorrow is a very special day for me… ~A year ago, I was tasked with building business at what was a very dormant Larry Flynt's Lucky Lady Casino. I brought some folks in with me to help build a 2/3 NL game and a $5 DBPLOBP game. It was a STRUGGLE… Turns out it’s incredibly hard to get poker players to try new venues, even if they are beautiful, even if you offer them free food, even if you spew hard and buy bucket after bucket of beer! 💔💔😡😡 From Horse Fair Cruelty to Train Terror: Ireland Is Sliding Backwards on Animal Welfare and Public Safety Even in still images, the reality is impossible to ignore. The scenes captured at this year’s Ballinasloe Horse Fair show frightened animals, children left unsupervised, and a total absence of control or enforcement. What should be a proud celebration of culture has become a disturbing snapshot of cruelty, intimidation and systemic neglect — playing out in the open, with no meaningful response from those in power. Across the fair, animals were photographed tethered in overcrowded spaces, surrounded by noisy, uncontrolled crowds. Many appear visibly distressed heads pulled tight on ropes, bodies straining, eyes wide. Some were being handled roughly, pushed or dragged through the crowds. Children stood among them without supervision, some holding ropes or watching as animals were mistreated. Beyond the Fair The collapse of oversight does not end at the fair gates. In a chilling reports from several sources, passengers on an Athlone–Dublin train described a “nightmare journey” in the days following the fair. Groups of young people boarded carrying animals chickens, ducks and a cat and proceeded to torment them openly, spraying aerosols, lighting them, shouting, and intimidating passengers. One woman who intervened was surrounded and threatened. Others sat in silence, petrified to speak up, unsure if help would ever come. There were no Gardaí. No Irish Rail security. No one in authority to protect passengers or animals. The sense of lawlessness, fear, and impunity was overwhelming. We Are Going Backwards These incidents reveal something far deeper than poor behaviour at a fair or on a train. They expose: •A failure to protect animals from cruelty. •A failure to protect children from being exposed to, or participating in, abuse. •A failure to protect the public from intimidation and antisocial behaviour. •A failure to enforce the law where everyone can see it being broken. What Must Change - Now We are calling for bold, structural action, not platitudes: 1.Appointment of a National Animal Welfare Authority, reporting to the Minister for Justice, with powers to coordinate enforcement, policy, and inspection nationally. 2.The Department of Agriculture must step up and treat animal welfare as a serious, national issue — not a box-ticking exercise. Inspections, prosecutions, and policy must reflect the scale of the problem. 3.Establish a Garda-led National Animal Crime Unit, recognising that animal cruelty is often linked with broader patterns of criminality, antisocial behaviour, and organised crime. 4.Demand that everyone in power local authorities, transport operators, enforcement bodies, and political leaders stop turning away. Silence is complicity. This Is Not Tradition - It’s Neglect Ireland can no longer pretend these issues are marginal. They are playing out in our public spaces, trains, and towns. I have a story about addiction from a different perspective. A story where recovery was not possible. I have one sibling. An older brother. Everyone loved him. It was easy to love him. He died 10 years ago. It was a horrible death that took him 20 years to accomplish, dragging everyone who loved him along the way. He was an amazing musician. He didn't read music. No lessons. Hand him any instrument, and he can play it. He had a big heart. He was easily the funniest person I've ever known. And he is the only other human being who speaks fluent movie-script-quotes with precision and skill. But alcohol took over in his mid-20s. Bam Margera is just 2 years younger than my brother. He reminds me of my brother *so* much. Everything Bam and his family went through with his addiction is what my brother and family went through. My brother left high school because he was a gifted songwriter and musician. Bam left because he was a gifted skater. My brother was really into editing and producing films, and so is Bam. When Ryan Dunn died, and Bam went off the deep end, I was watching my brother do the same thing every time a strong emotion hit him, and he simply didn't know what to do with it. My brother was so beautiful on the outside, yet unrecognizable at the end. I can not tell you how many times my brother would go missing. Hundreds of times. He would sometimes go missing for up to a week. Then we'd get a call from the police or a hospital. Usually, the hospital would be first because he'd be near death. Then they would keep him on a 5150 at a mental health facility. Then he would come home. One time, he chased me with a knife in his hand, screaming he was going to kill me as I was running out of my parents' home on a cordless phone dialing 911. I found a fifth of vodka in his room and poured it down the drain. He went looking for it 20 minutes later, and it was empty...and I told him I poured it out. When I was 24 years old, I landed my first job that came with an office. My name was outside of it. I was stoked. I worked my ass off to get there. But there was no happiness at that time in my life. I remember my father calling me at work, sitting in that office, to say he was coming to pick me up because he knew where my brother, who had been missing for 4 days, was. The credit card he stole from my mother showed he was at a little oceanfront motel 10 minutes away. And I remember thinking to myself on the way over there...I have to open the motel room door. I can't let my dad see him hanging. It will destroy his life. I told my dad to wait about 10 feet to my left, and I opened the door, and there was my brother fashioning a sheet into a noose. Another time he went missing, and they found him on the roof of a building with the inside of his arms slashed from elbow to wrist, just lying in a pool of blood. Dark shit. He got to the point of seizures when he withdrew and had alcohol-related dementia for the last 3 years of his life, which would come and go. Then one day, after 2 decades, he called my parents and said something was wrong. My parents went over to his place, ended up calling 911, the ambulance got there, and he started walking outside with assistance from paramedics and collapsed. In front of my parents. He was rushed to the hospital. I had not seen my brother for the last 9 years of his life. He disowned me. Because he felt he had to. He killed my dog when he got drunk 9 years before he died. No one knows if he meant to or not, he was so wasted. He couldn't face me after that. So he disowned me. And a piece of my heart died the day he did it. I talked to my parents right before they left to see what was wrong that day. The last thing I said to my dad was, "Do not let him die without me having an opportunity to say goodbye." My dad called me from the er 2 hours later and said, "You should come over now. He won't know you're here." When I got there, I was shocked at what I saw. He wasn't the right color. He was in a coma. Severe internal bleeding. On life support. It was jarring even after seeing him in a much similar state hundreds of times for such a long time. He was taken to the ICU 3 hours later, where they would transfuse blood by the bag damn near constantly, and it just shot out of his nose. It was bloody. A lot of blood. After about 6 hours, I told my parents to go home and get some rest. I would stay with him. And I talked to him like he was right there. Like one of the hundreds of pillow-fort slumber parties we had as kids. Like no time had passed, and his addiction never existed. I showed him pictures of my life over the past decade on my phone...just like he was there. But he wasn't there. And after 3 hours and extensive talks with several doctors and specialists, I had to make the decision to remove his life support. After my parents returned and said goodbye, I told them to wait out in the hall until he passed because I could not allow them to have the memory of him dying, and I returned to my brother's side, and said what I needed to say, bawling my heart out. I told them to turn off the machines, and I held him in my arms as he died. It took just over 7 minutes. And I just held him. I had Nine Inch Nails playing for him. One of his favorites thanks to Pretty Hate Machine. He was a fan for life after that. He was my best friend. But he was also someone I had to protect myself from if he was intoxicated. This is the end that usually becomes a reality for addicts and their families. Then there's someone like Bam Margera. He went to the same place my brother went to in his head. And he came back. Bam is one of the greatest comebacks ever and a story of recovery worth knowing. I see YouTube shorts of Bam skating again every day, and I'm so moved that I just sit here and cry. You can see his personality is back. You have no idea how rare that is. Their personality shows very little while they're in their addiction. Recovery stories are incredibly personal to so many people, including those who have gone through addiction with an addict because they love them so much...they'd see anything they had to see and endure anything they have to endure just to be there with them at their lowest point. Addicts are not monsters. The stuff they use to numb the pain they do not understand is the real monster. And when you put enough of that into a human being, they do things they would *never* do without it. People are not pure. We are more complex than that. We are good and bad. Light and dark. Right and wrong. Chaotic and serene. You will find that the answer to every question you have about life is usually "both" for a reason. Because one can not exist without the other. With recovery stories like Hunter Biden's and Bam Margera's out in the ether, more people will be less ignorant as to how this disease plays out, and that will do nothing but good for so many families struggling with this issue. Addiction isn't just for the addict. Addiction is for everyone who loves them, as well. It's just a different perspective of hell. So listen to recovery stories with renewed respect because most addicts end up the way it ended for the only sibling I'll ever have.

I have a story about addiction from a different perspective. A story where recovery was not possible. I have one sibling. An older brother. Everyone loved him. It was easy to love him. He died 10 years ago. It was a horrible death that took him 20 years to accomplish, dragging everyone who loved him along the way. He was an amazing musician. He didn't read music. No lessons. Hand him any instrument, and he can play it. He had a big heart. He was easily the funniest person I've ever known. And he is the only other human being who speaks fluent movie-script-quotes with precision and skill. But alcohol took over in his mid-20s. Bam Margera is just 2 years younger than my brother. He reminds me of my brother *so* much. Everything Bam and his family went through with his addiction is what my brother and family went through. My brother left high school because he was a gifted songwriter and musician. Bam left because he was a gifted skater. My brother was really into editing and producing films, and so is Bam. When Ryan Dunn died, and Bam went off the deep end, I was watching my brother do the same thing every time a strong emotion hit him, and he simply didn't know what to do with it. My brother was so beautiful on the outside, yet unrecognizable at the end. I can not tell you how many times my brother would go missing. Hundreds of times. He would sometimes go missing for up to a week. Then we'd get a call from the police or a hospital. Usually, the hospital would be first because he'd be near death. Then they would keep him on a 5150 at a mental health facility. Then he would come home. One time, he chased me with a knife in his hand, screaming he was going to kill me as I was running out of my parents' home on a cordless phone dialing 911. I found a fifth of vodka in his room and poured it down the drain. He went looking for it 20 minutes later, and it was empty...and I told him I poured it out. When I was 24 years old, I landed my first job that came with an office. My name was outside of it. I was stoked. I worked my ass off to get there. But there was no happiness at that time in my life. I remember my father calling me at work, sitting in that office, to say he was coming to pick me up because he knew where my brother, who had been missing for 4 days, was. The credit card he stole from my mother showed he was at a little oceanfront motel 10 minutes away. And I remember thinking to myself on the way over there...I have to open the motel room door. I can't let my dad see him hanging. It will destroy his life. I told my dad to wait about 10 feet to my left, and I opened the door, and there was my brother fashioning a sheet into a noose. I was born, grew, and lived under one. I know what it means. It’s the opposite. A political group of many active-duty military members, along with former president Jair Bolsonaro—a retired military officer—tried to bring back that era by encouraging a coup in Brazil in 2022. It was precisely to prevent a return to those dark times that, using the law, the Federal Police, prosecutors, and judges enforced legal measures to stop a coup and restrain those who were serving this filthy attempt. Bolsonaro has repeatedly said he supports torture, that the “dictatorship didn’t kill enough people, and that there should be a new one, this time killing around 30,000.” He said this in a video, an interview that can be found on this platform. His son, Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (photo), who has been constantly coming to the United States under the pretext of denouncing a “dictatorship” in Brazil and advocating for human rights, has posed for photos wearing a T-shirt with the image of Colonel Ustra—a notorious torturer of the regime who tortured people in front of their families and inserted tubes into women’s vaginas, introducing rats and snakes into them. He also said that closing Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court would only take a corporal and a soldier. “Ustra Vive” means “Ustra Lives.” These are the people who have been coming to the United States to lie about Brazil, trying to drive a wedge between two countries that, since Brazil’s re-democratization, have acted as fraternal nations and commercial partners. They are not victims! They wanted to hijack the country violently. Brazilians know what a dictatorship is! That’s why Bolsonaro was swept out of power. In this sea of uncertainty and confusion surrounding Trump’s new world order, I feel sympathy for the millions of Americans that did not vote for this. It must be like you are living in a never ending nightmare. I can’t imagine for a moment what it must feel like to be at the mercy of a narcissistic sociopath, not knowing what disastrous thing he will do next. It is evident having listened to JD Vance in Munich, he is not just trying to subjugate America, he is trying to subjugate the world. This is a man who wasn’t joking when he said ‘We love the poorly educated’ he meant it. According to available data, approximately 43 million Americans are considered functionally illiterate, meaning they struggle significantly with reading and writing skills to the point of not being able to understand basic texts or complete simple forms. 54% of adults have a literacy below sixth-grade level. American education has failed half the population and that’s a blight on the houses of ALL politicians. America it seems, has been living in denial for far too long and a monster has come along as the pied piper and infected the minds of around 30% of voting age Americans. As a result of people who should know better sitting it out, 30% has been enough to have tyranny come knocking. Trump has decided not just to test the limits of his domestic power, he’s testing the limits of his global power too. Domestically, his own party is terrified and cowering silently in a corner. I am so angry that Democrats allowed this to happen. They left it too late to provide a compelling argument for a better tomorrow. The ‘vote for us because the other guy is a fascist’ was stupid, it was never going to work, but they marched on believing that talking to each other and receiving self congratulation would win the election. I want you to stop and think about this for a moment. The Democrat campaign didn’t just lose, it handed power to a convicted criminal. Tuesday - Louis CK Louie is 58 now but moves like he's 85. He's got the darkest thickest under-eye bags I've ever seen, they're even apparent from below. He will not make it to 70 and if he does he will be so physically repulsive he won't even have to tell jokes any more — which is a shame because in my opinion he's the greatest living stand up by far. I am sick and tired of pretending there's any competition in this genre. This was the THIRD time I had heard him do this set, which barely cracks his top ten hours, and I was laughing my ass off the entire time. EVEN WITH THIS LOUD DRUNK BITCH BESIDE ME.. it made me realize how formulaic Shane Gillis and every other big up-and-comer feels in comparison right now, like they're all rolling off a conveyor belt at the comedy factory where you take a PREMISE, add a PUNCHLINE, and a CALL BACK, with THREE TAGS, and mechanically deploy this stuff over and over with no real through-line or heart in it at all. Louie is relentlessly personal and so his sets evolve with him. I saw him for the first time last year in Indianapolis, and was "severely disappointed." He seemed stilted, nervous, coasting on absurdist buzzword shit tailored for drunken simpletons. He'd say "Vagina" with no context and these hicks would lose their minds. I drove 4 hours to see him that day and couldn’t believe how empty his material was. Jokes that could’ve been written by anybody. There was one prick of personal truth — when he talked about putting his Dad away in a Home. He's been writing about his absentee father his whole life. It’s obviously a great source of anxiety and frustration. So it's no surprise that he leaned in to that thread, sharpened it over the course of the tour, and now the whole set circles around this theme of aging: "All my fat friends are dead. If you have a friend that's older than 50 you should say goodbye." Says big tall egg-shaped Louie, who looks like two Carlins combined. My date was way too drunk to appreciate the occasion. We were in front row seats at the Hollywood Bowl. She bought them for us at dinner, 1 hour before. Different Asian girl from Monday. She had never been to a stand up show in her life, and so she didn't really "get" comedy, and she wouldn't stop fucking talking. Pulling her phone out and texting God knows who. The security guy whose job it was to prevent me from climbing on stage and whipping my cock out had to reprimand her: "Please put your phone away" in the middle of the set. I could not believe it. We're here in the front row beneath the GOAT and he's KILLING, in a stadium of 20,000, and you're texting on your god damn phone? Who? Who could it be? It was a homeless guy from reddit. Not me, a different homeless guy. At one point she actually asked if she could step out and do some blow. I said are you kidding? There's like 10 minutes left, just shut the fuck up and enjoy it. Donner: If you want to deliver a message and you're a total believer and you make a message film, you must realize [that] you have a very limited audience. An update on Maya Gebala (Tumbler Ridge) From her mom Cia **Additional info regarding Ronalds house. Charity funds, and Cvap and added at the bottom** Hey Everyone. Here comes another long one...... Ive wanted to write an update for quite sometime.. I just, dont really know what to say I guess. I know alot of my posts seem to be deep in despair. Truth is though, I simply can't afford to give up in faith. Its all I have left. People ask me, regularly, is Maya okay? -I suppose- If Okay is the mid line on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being dead 10 being thriving... I suppose okay would suffice. The Maya I see everyday currently, to the Maya i spent the past 12 years observing and attempting to tame into civility, are vastly different. Through the eyes of pure unwavering love, It feels like a crime to say "shes okay" The Maya I had the pleasure to watch blossom.. like a volcano.. The brave, confident force of nature. Was rarely sick for school. Had deep burning empathy. She understood more of the world and the people around her, then she probably should at her age.. Now.... Now, I imagine she is a goldfish, floating in the small aquarium that is her own body. Observing. She cant communicate. Or articulate feelings. Her eyes tell me she is in there still. So, is she "okay"? What IS okay? The adrenaline and consistent wave of hope and despair in the beginning brought feelings that made the scale of comparison easy to articulate. And then now. We have only time. Endless time. Uncertainty. Faith(?) And fear.... Her cranialplasty went well. No further signs of infection, crisis averted. She is healing incredibly well. Myself, as a mother, stood on a platform of maternal vigilance. Now I can ... what.... relax? Now that her life doesn't hang in the fragile threads of moments and possibilities, I'm left with the mountain of broken pieces that was once our lives.. The dishes from a sunday dinner, left forgotten until tomorrow. Time to deal with the mess. We were plucked from our small town lives and dropped collectively in a new life, broken and battered. A now past life, where i once ran a business. where my daughters spent most their little lives walking the streets 'hanging at moms shop' Where everyone knows you, and most welcome you. Where there are many more trees then cars, and if you heard sirens at night, you likely knew who they were for. In the silence of unrelenting "wait and see" we pick up the pieces, and start over. A new normal. A new place. A new shade of jade. It has been nearly impossible to aquire housing. knowing she will likely be in a wheelchair. To know that there is a good chance that her level of consciousness can still continue to develop and all I want to do is protect my children from the busy noise and sirens that is the city. One day she might ask what happened. One day i may have to tell her. I hope to protect the peace. I hope to create an imaginary parallel to the life they were forced to abandon. It is difficult... if not impossible. For a while little Dahlia and I stayed in a series of airbnbs, thinking we would find a home soon. She needed her mom. I felt all I could give that resembled any sort of 'life' was a bedroom.. and breakfast together. Under the implication that victim services would cover accomodations and expenses as they offer on the government website. A service intended to support families who have been subject to the wreckage of a hanous and violent crime. We dont qualify. The list of potential benefits covered for truamatized families searching for a new normal in an unthinkable situation. We arent covered. Turns out, legislation is written in such a way, we dont qualify. So all and any expenses are left to be fulfilled by any organizations holding donations, that has litterally saved us so far.. So, with that, accomodations have become too much, and we live between the back of my car and a couch in the hospital. Hoping we find a place that fits all our requirements sometime soon. Then what? Prepare for the worst, yet hope for the best, they say. What if maya needs round the clock care? How do I work... how does LIFE work. I live moment to moment in a sea of maybe's with no solid ground to rest our feet. Running in place. Fantasizing over possibilities that seem just barely out of reach. The carrot on the stick. We have had some incredible opportunities surface, we seemed to have stumbled on a 'school' type structure in a horse stable... no walls. No familiarity... Perfect for now. It is exactly what she needed. So... I still keep faith. We never went to LA.. for anyone who believed we did, it just didnt happen. There was too much uncertainty and her state was to fragile to have the travel was worth the risk.. in all honesty I think I pulled the trigger on that post to early, although I didn't see it that way at the time -my bad. We are now, however, researching neurospecific hospitals world wide for advanced treatment, if we find one she may qualify for, we would rather go broke taking any potential avenues available, then walk the arduous path of "wait and see". So.. we are okay. We are all okay. If Okay was the mid line on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being dead. 10 being thriving. We are the epitome of Okay.. Mya Maya. My goldfish baby, as Ive been calling her.. Dumbed down to a state of pre-evolution, her gold fish state. All I can hope is, one day she finds the means to sprout legs and walk out of her pond. Like the images in those old 90's science books.. I didnt find it healthy that her only available.friends were more vulnerable children. She loves fiercely, but im terrified for her. I basically gave the room to david and his family that comes.quite frequently to help. The airbnbs and couch surfing, id assumed to be short.lived as he hunt for homes..** **CHARITY FUNDS. YES. The pac charity. The Red Cross. There are other charities available we can pull from. However, with having toforfeit my shop, the outrageous cost of housing, medical equipment, and not knowing how or if I can ever work again, using any of that for overpriced short term stays seems very unreasonable. 2 weeks in a hotel or Airbnb is a months rent. There are financial resources. As our future looks now, maya will need mechanical slings, ramps, stair lifts. A van, a special tub, and potentially at home care... all of that combined is well over 200k in a year... That coupled with 2500 a month in rent, and everyday living. These alotted funds need to stretch us as long as possible. With 6k a month in home care for maya and 2500 a month in rent, its scary fast it Will go. I will.likely need to upgrade some courses and find new work. Its alot and the future is unknown. So with the government sector offering to cover "accomodations" it didnt seem so reckless. I wouldnt want to spend a lifeline like these funds, on expensive short term stays, but with that seemingly the only option, we will just keep looking for a home.** **Also In regards to Victim services. I hope no one calls to raise hell on our behalf, it isnt the employees, it is the legislature. We could tell today during our meeting that they wanted to help. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty. Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege. And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down. So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that: • Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are. • You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man. I don’t care about your politics anymore. I really don’t. If you’re still justifying ICE’s actions you’re done. That isn’t a disagreement anymore, that’s a moral failure. The claim that Alex Pretti, a 37 year old ICU nurse, was aggressive or that he was there to kill officers is not just false, it’s evil. It’s a deliberate lie. Kristi Noem repeating it isn’t confusion or poor judgment, it’s a malicious lie. This is the same woman with a documented history of cruelty and dishonesty, and now she’s in charge of Homeland Security. That should terrify everyone! If J.D. Vance and Trump’s team don’t cut her loose, they risk losing their base. This isn’t just Democrats anymore Republican supporters are fed up too.
