We used to call this “turning the rotor” and was cheaper than buying new ones.

Duh. I knew this when I was 12 - more than 50!years ago

I thought they stopped turning rotors because modern rotors are heat treated and surface hardened with wear limits of only a mm or so.

Yeah, they used to turn rotors at all the shops. Now the machine is broken or the only guy that can use it is on vacation. The world is gay now.

So smooth. To bad I have to remove them take them somewhere then go pick them up two hrs later

Disc are cheap as anything nowadays, why would you bother.
