If he got hit while waist deep in water he would have just dropped dead right there, he most likely just felt the static of that much electricity suddenly charging everything behind him

Holy Crap!! In 1979, when I was kid, I got caught in a raging thunderstorm/flood and we had to abandon our car to run for shelter in a house down a hill. As we ran down the hill, lightning hit so close to us that it caused to black out & fall down! We quickly got back up and made it to the safety of the house but that was one of the scariest things I've ever been through! The next morning, the road we ran on to reach the house was GONE, replaced by a raging river and hundreds of fallen trees. It was actually the "great" Johnstown, PA flood of 1979... made national news and everything. Literally a Life or Death situation... we were very lucky to survive!
