The pardon power exists for one reason: to let a president correct cases where the justice system got something wrong. That’s NOT what’s happening. Trump is creating an under-the-table business where wealthy criminals can buy their way out of a sentence. That is corruption, plain and simple, and it is an egregious abuse of the presidential pardon power. Enough is enough. We need legislation permitting Congress to overturn a presidential pardon with a two-thirds vote.

But Trump just announced that he would pardon Hernández — a thank you for his years of service to US empire. There's no way that Venezuela — home of some of the largest oil reserves in the world — is being targeted because the President is supposedly a "drug trafficker."
