August 12 marks World Elephant Day, an international annual event to bring attention to the threats elephants are facing and promote their protection. China has made significant progress in protecting Asian elephants, with the population of the top-level nationally protected species growing from about 150 in the 1980s to nearly 400 today. Technology plays an increasingly important role in this conservation effort. In Yunnan Province, a major habitat for Asian elephants in China, a “sky-ground-space” integrated monitoring system has been established. It combines on-the-ground protection teams with advanced technologies, including thermal-imaging drones, infrared cameras and satellite-connected collars, to track and identify elephants and strengthen their protection.

A herd of around 30 wild elephants—from tiny calves to full-grown adults, including the matriarch—appeared at Kruger National Park in South Africa. 🐘 In a special moment, while on the move, the entire herd suddenly approached a tourist safari vehicle… and then decided to settle down and sleep right beside it! The baby elephants stretched out on the ground for a nap, while the adults slept standing, as elephants naturally do. As a result, the vehicle was “stuck” in the middle of the herd for over an hour. The herd slept peacefully and trustingly right beside the vehicle, creating a scene that was both adorable and a super rare “elephant traffic jam.” 💖✨

At all our reintegration units the focus is on supporting the orphans as they transition back to the wild. For the female elephants this leads on to starting a family of their own. To date, we know of 77 calves born to elephants we’ve rescued and raised: their wild-living mothers choosing return, so that we might share in their joy. Three of the births in the last year have been in Umani. Babies Sulwe and Zigi, under the watchful gaze of mothers Sonje and Zongoloni, are two of them. Your support helps us rescue orphans, who in turn herald a next generation of elephants. Meet them at:

The Gulag Chinese Boss teaching worker obedience in China owned mine in Africa. People on X praise communism and point to China, "Look at how great they are," the commies say, as they turn their back on the black African worker making $2 a day.

Lest we forget about the elephants amid all the Bumpy fervour*: here’s Olomunyak, Pardamat, and Muridjo, putting themselves back in the picture and making the most of a rainy day. We especially admire Olomunyak’s style; we can always rely on him to bring some undignified theatre to proceedings! *Bumpy is our newest arrival, a tiny hippo making a very big impression. IF you haven't already, check out our feed to meet him.

The sad reality of trucking is that some of us will pass on alone. I've known many drivers who have died in their trucks. Some weren't discovered for days. truckersfinalmile helps transport the deceased back home to their families. Getting a body back is extremely expensive. They are a non-profit. Please go check them out at and donate if you're able.

Look at the lines heading back in to #America250 After waiting hours in the blistering sun, then being forced out by some Karen in the weather department (to the delight of the left I might add), the Patriots didn’t go home. They waited for an opportunity to get back in. That’s the difference between the right and the left: the left looks for excuses to complain and quit the right looks for excuses to be persevere and succeed. Happy Birthday America!
