🚨WEIGH IN 28🚨 BEST WEIGH IN YET!!!!!!!! •284.2 pounds (ATH 530+) •Blood sugar: A1C 5.4% (ATH 11.1%) •Frank has lost 245+ pounds overall (and is carrying 20-40 pounds of excess skin) Frank has been lifting weights three times a week with me since Arnold Schwarzenegger got him started over Christmas. His progress has been fantastic and we can already see improvements in his functional strength. He is also using treadmills occasionally, a machine he used to fear like the plague. The gym once seemed impossible to Frank, now it is part of his routine. The weight lifting is already adding muscle which adds bodyweight as he drops fat. We are focusing on the root causes of the stress and trying to weed it out bit by bit. Frank is going to make a big effort on the mental aspect of this journey. Frank averaged over 18K steps per day for the month. He is definitely building muscle, but if he can stay consistent on diet he will shrink under 300 pounds. Breaking bad diet habits (a lifetime of them) is incredibly hard and setbacks are inevitable. I try to emphasize to Frank that it’s not about achieving perfection, but rather how you respond to the setbacks. Tough month, but with warm weather coming, I predict a big start to the spring. After 45+ years of eating junk food, overhauling an entire diet sustainably takes a lot of patience and persistence No excuses, this wasn’t our best month. We need to lock in on diet. Frank is disappointed but knows he screwed up on diet this month and is owning it. Mikey and I are working hard on a plan. I do my best to remind Frank that if we zoom out, his progress is extraordinary and he continues to improve muscle growth, stamina, and overall athleticism everyday. And add YEARS to his life. Most people who lose a lot of weight struggle to keep it off. This is his 3rd lowest weigh in of 19. This is a lifetime sustainability mission, not a diet with a specific weight target. Lots of game left. The greatest reward of this crazy adventure is when we hear from Tank’s Army all kinds of stories of people who have decided to start walking or exercising because of Frank. We are focused on continuing to overhaul his diet and talk about it almost daily. I am sure I am annoying at times, but Frank needs to be pushed and challenged. If he is capable of completely changing his daily physical habits, he is capable of changing his diet. It has simply proven to be much more challenging. A couple of the biggest struggles are stress eating and discipline on boring days at home. Frank will crush unhealthy snacks after a Mets loss or if he is stuck in his house on a boring weekend with bad weather. He shot up to 315 this month but then locked in to close the month at an all time low. To anyone who makes food in the Belleville, NJ area, I am desperate to show Frank he has local options that cook both delicious and relatively healthy food. Same goes for anyone near MSG (lunch after walks). Frank’s energy, quickness, coordination, stamina, strength, flexibility, and confidence continue to increase with each passing step. He doesn’t need me or anyone else to encourage him to walk: he gets it in every single day. No excuses, he’s addicted. His body has transformed beyond weight loss. He can fit in booths, manage stairs/hills, and has new levels of stamina enabling 3 hour walks. Hell, he is even practicing jogging at this point. The challenge in 2025 will be matching his walking discipline with diet discipline. Late night snacking, soda, and salt intake are some of the primary obstacles. Frank is generally eating and drinking significantly better than his past, but the starting point was so horrible we still have a ways to go. Mitigating late night snacking is our biggest focus this month. This journey is not simple or easy, but it is real. The diet struggles are probably relatable to many. And struggling is okay as long as you keep fighting, because adversity leads to life’s greatest victories. Diet diet diet. The KEY to Frank breaking 300 LBS this year. It is time to lock in. And Frank responded with a solid month, getting back to into the green. He has now lost weight in 10/12 weigh ins. His endurance, flexibility, agility, and energy improve everyday. But what Frank is most proud of is the always increasing # of walkers who have started their own health journeys. It blows Frank’s mind that he’s gone from getting picked on in school for his weight, to becoming an inspiring fitness influencer. Frank also passed one year of walking with no days off on Friday.
